Combining Materials and Textures

Hello. I've been experimenting with materials and textures in Unity, specifically trying to combine them to form some sort of procedural material, such as a tiled floor where the type of stones that make up the tiles are randomized. Basically what I want to do is take a bunch of texture data for dif...

Re: Skills anyone?

I would personally like to see the skill system be even more complex than it is in Daggerfall. For example, archery could have a bunch of different smaller skills that affect draw speed, accuracy, damage, movement speed while the bow is drawn, etc. Some skills could be expanded upon in this manner, ...

Re: Re Twitter

I've spent quite a bit of time working with magic in the Creation kit, and one interesting thing I saw that wasn't really used in Daggerfall was a condition list for effects, enchantments, and spells. Basically you could tell a spell that it could only work if the conditions in its list were true, s...

Re: Discussion on armor

I'd say allow color swapping to allow multiple types of armor across multiple designs, but still limit it based on the material. Chainmail armor could be any material type, save for the bracers, boots, and helmet which should be part of the plate armor designs. Chainmail could be worn on top of padd...

Re: Real Time Stamina

I'd like to see stamina as a short-term buffer to fatigue. Once you stamina bar runs out the game starts draining you fatigue meter. Lots of games only have a short-term stamina bar that just constantly regenerates which gives a limit to the number of action you can do at once, but doesn't have any ...

Re: Discussion on armor

For the 2D vs 3D discussion, what would be the performance impact of each? If we wanted to do a city siege, how many characters could we have fighting? I know pathfinding is a big hit, but that could also be optimized for certain situations.

Re: Discussion on weapons and armor

I know Star Citizen has an interesting FPS system where the camera is literally attached to the face of the player character and the animations are made to look good in both first and third person. As for the armors, material-specific styles can look repetative, too. It always annoyed me in Skyrim h...

Re: Discussion on weapons and armor

That doesn't mean every material has to use every style, there could be a blade styles unique to certain material types.

Re: Discussion on weapons and armor

Following won't be possible without coding, but I'll mention it anyways. In my opinion, we should make different material types in order to assign colors and reflection values to different kinds of objects. A dagger could have a hilt material and a blade material while an expensive door could be mad...
