IDEA: Allow the paperdoll character backgrounds to have a night variants

Talk about the mods or features you'd like to see in Daggerfall Unity. Give mod creators some ideas!

Rain day
Rain night
Dungeon

If you add more weather, its good 😊 Dusk/Dawn I think has no big reason to exist and will just increase the required amount of background variants exponentially.

Here, I updated the github: https://github.com/joshcamas/dfu-charac ... nd-swapper

It supports time and weather! It will automatically search for all combinations, so whatever you have, it will find.

EDIT: I forgot to add a dungeon variant, oops! I'll do that soon

I might add snow and that would be it... 10 variants for each background is the max I feel I can do. Now its 8.
Storm has added rain layer as well, but its not that much noticeable unless you zoom to the level you see it ingame
Fog was quite a challenge, but ended up relatively well

Bad news, the script ceased to work completely with the last update.
Not even night kicks in when the time comes, nothing. :o

Not sure if I do anything wrong...

I will send you all the backgrounds + the latest script Ive downloaded so you can test it on your own. Its in the PM, sending it now,.

Better ambience is cool, but Id like to use only this part, might it be possible?

Ive opened a thread where I ask for a help with bugfixing the script, I hope its all right with you? IF not, I will delete it.
I do so because I want to release the DREAM update with this script working, and I want to do it this year, prefferably before christmass.

Hello, my finals are done so I can finally get back into this! :)

Try this file: https://github.com/joshcamas/dfu-charac ... nd-swapper

I added interior ones. These files will look like this:

interior_OPENSHOP.IMG.png (idk what happens if you break in lmao)
interior_DUNGEON.IMG.png
interior_CASTLE.IMG.png
interior_BUILDING.IMG.png (anything else interior? Not sure)

Also, make sure your images are readable! To do this, select the image and enable "Read/Write Enabled". This is not needed if in streaming assets, only if its packed in mod file.

I'm not sure how to detect if its snow on the ground. If anyone knows how to do this, please tell me xD

Hi, 1st - congrats on passing thru the finals :)
I will test the script today and report back, thanks a lot!!

In the meantime I was a bit stressed that I will not be able to include this in the Dream release, so I made a thread where I asked if anyone knows why this script might not be working, and I got a reply from Pango there, so maybe it will be worth it for you to have a look? I was reluctant to ask about it, because I respect this is your work. But I came to the conclusion that bug-fixing in nothing you would be against. I hope its understandable and I do not come across as rude.
