Awesome! Great work and welcome to the forums. Start with some of the easier models and you'll do great, I had very little modelling experience until I started making models for Daggerfall (in 2011)GriddleRider wrote:Your project is really inspiring, I started 3d modelling just because of it. Would you mind if I practice on Daggerfall objects? I can send my models if you need. Here's what I've already done.
P.s. My english is bad, I'm learning.
Honestly? The method I use is very easy. For the most part I just sample large handpainted textures that are free to use from other authors and add in my own shading and detail work.LorrMaster42 wrote:How do you make the textures for all these items? I can never figure out how to make good-looking textures.
1. I start by UV-mapping the model and then I bake the model for ambient occlusion in Blender
2. You now have a texture that looks like this
3. Then I took a texture that VMBlast graciously let me use (download/file.php?id=495) tile it and place it beneath the ambient occlusion layer. I set the ambient occlusion layer blending mode to "multiply" and...
After that there's always some fine-tuning required like facing things vertically/horizontally, I also added in details like the brass handles and hinges etc. For the glass I created a custom shader in Unity.
