Awesome! Great work and welcome to the forums. Start with some of the easier models and you'll do great, I had very little modelling experience until I started making models for Daggerfall (in 2011) :)

Honestly? The method I use is very easy. For the most part I just sample large handpainted textures that are free to use from other authors and add in my own shading and detail work.

1. I start by UV-mapping the model and then I bake the model for ambient occlusion in Blender
Image

2. You now have a texture that looks like this

3. Then I took a texture that VMBlast graciously let me use (download/file.php?id=495) tile it and place it beneath the ambient occlusion layer. I set the ambient occlusion layer blending mode to "multiply" and...

After that there's always some fine-tuning required like facing things vertically/horizontally, I also added in details like the brass handles and hinges etc. For the glass I created a custom shader in Unity.

Thanks! Added to the list. I used the same model as the other fountain for this variation but I guess they had different origins for some reason..

Now that I've learned to work with shaders in Unity I can make the bottles much prettier. Will go back to the older models sometime and update

Also just realized that almost all the bottles I've made so far for this cabinet have exact matching flats in the game so I've killed 5 birds with one stone so far.

Thanks everyone for your kind words.

I finished my fiirst model and here it is. It's bad and I can't texture it because I'm bad at drawing and all, but I'm still uploading it.

Looks really nice. Maybe you can use this VMblast's wood texture on that bookshelf at right. You also can make color adjustments to it in image editing software to add some variability.

Nicely done indeed! I like how DFU makes ppl learn new skills, now you are a decent 3d modeling specialist :) You model in Blender, right? That thing made my fingernails roll backwards, Im unable to do anything there unfortunatelly :(

But I can do some semi-decent textures in Photoshop, usually by altering free textures I got on the net. If you need some textures let me know I can send some from my archive or I can create em for specific models.

EDIT: Ad that fountains, I found many of them floating above the ground, is there a way to make them land?

Infact, why don't we setup a texture share someplace.
I have a collection of thousands that I don't even look at today.
Would it be possible to setup a shared space where others can have write access?
