Congratulations to the big 0.11.0 milestone, which I just noticed today.

I had made some really good progress with my Black Horse Courier mod in 0.10.26, but later got distracted by "more important" :D real life stuff. So I missed all versions until 0.11.0 and now, wow, surprise! :) Hope to come back to it the next weeks, and hopefully release 0.3 sometime this spring.

Is it expected that this release does not come with a user manual PDF like it used to?

Yep, I removed that a while back. It was out of date and I'm not sure how much use it was. Still plenty of folks asking for info that was on page 1, which means they didn't even open it before coming to forums/Reddit for help.

I seem to have better luck directing people to the general info topic in H&S as needed.

I was looking for it because some recommend installing both Daggerfall and Daggerfall Unity in the same directory; In the user manual at least, it was explicitly said not to...

I saw that one, thanks for the support assist. :)

Yep, my messaging has always been to install game data and DFU into separate directories. All of the setup processes in H&S topic linked above also state this. And of course to extract each new version into a clean new folder, never over the top of old version.

I'm not sure what to answer to his second question though.
Are there other known bad consequences to install both in the same directory, beside making upgrading more difficult?
(it has been recommended countless times while fixing broken installs, but does it specifically fix issues or is that "just" a good practice)

It's best practice and helps sets them up for fewer problems down the road.

The problem with unzipping over the top is that it's a purely additive process. So when there's a major engine change, all those legacy files are left behind and things eventually get messy and crashy. It's also a good opportunity to setup mods again and make sure they're compatible with new release.

I personally don't like how things are right now. I'd much prefer to distribute as a free game on Steam or similar with all game files bundled so installation is a single click and upgrades are clean and automatic. But unless Bethesda or Microsoft decide to give us permission or get involved somehow, I don't feel like this is a step we can take yet.
