Hello! Old TES OG player here, just dropping by to say "Hi"

Started on CRPGs back on Color Computer 2 (Dungeons of Daggorath!), C128D (TSR Gold Box series). Got into TES Arena from an ex girfriend and her brother, who also told me they were making a followup title with improved graphics, faction system and a HUGE game world, even though it was like one region, instead of the "whole of Tamriel"... I can still remember the excitement of looking at those early Daggerfall screenshots and playing the Demo dozens of times and wanting more! I played Arena and Daggerfall to obsession, briefly got into Everquest with like minded friends; times were great, it was the late 90s, the dot.com bubble hadn't burst and I had a great programming job in Business Basic/ProvideX. 8-) I watched the Morrowind development with baited breath, even joining the forums to provide ideas, suggestions, etc. (I'm still waiting for the implementation of my climbing rope&grappling hook suggestion) Finally, we went "By carriage, then by boat, to the East to Morrowind" TES III came out, it wowed, even if the world felt much smaller, and somehow felt more "Static" (something that mods would address somewhat). Each successive TES title brought excitement for new graphics and features, but it seemed like the cost was high.. until the beautifully *looking* Skyrim, where I tried to look at my "character sheet" to check my Abilities and stats... and realized to my horror, there were not there. :( TES had fully "evolved" more of an Action FPS Fantasy game than the sprawling PnP-esque CRPG that Arena and Dagerfall were designed to be.

I had followed the DaggerfallXL project a little bit, until it seemed like it had ground to a "HALT!" I discovered this project through the YouTubers Zaric Zhakaron singing its praises, and LiliaTV's ethusiastic and entertaining "Let's Play"s. I tried to read this entire Hello thread before posting, seeing some maybe familiar names from TES Forums past lives... I plan to be on the forums periodically when real life doesn't steal me away or I'm not lost on a visit to the "Kingdom of Daggerfall."

A HUGE thank you to Interkarma and all the modders who have done amazing work to revitalize this old game and somehow draw me back into its world after all these years. (I keep trying to edit my Profile "About Me", but it hasn't saved my changes so far.. maybe being a new user? or it could have timed out.)

I do remember you! Or at least the grappling hook idea from The Bethesda forums pre-Morrowind.

Wow, that's awesome! Talk about way back, haha, doesn't seem like 20 years ago! I have kept the same user name, though I think I had "Elricwolf" for a while until I reset my account and realized too late that I had used an alternate spelling.. typical quick-trigger Bethesda forum Mods/Admin 'kindly' and swiftly deleted my other account (which I had more 'points' on! ) without giving me the choice (since you couldn't have 2 accounts), and I've been Elricwulf ever since. Haha. It's more Germanic that way, anyhow.

I see some familiar names sometimes, like Cliffworms, Antiscamp? and another or Two I can't remember off hand that look familiar from the now dead old Bethesda forums. I often wonder about the old Daggerfall Newsgroups/mailing list that I mostly lurked on back in the day and how those folks are doing -The Heroes of the Angry Porcupine, Mea Culpa. Elfiran, Balefire. Real OLD-school Daggerfall shiz.

Well, you're more OG (Original Gamer) than me. I only got into the community while waiting for Morrowind to be released. My first introduction to modding was DFHack (actually DHackEd but we're talking ES). I think in the community I was Leadfoot (named after a Shadowrun character of mine).

Hello! Big time TES fan (Started with Oblivion when it came out and worked my way backwards)! I absolutely love Daggerfall and DFU has been such a great revisit for my love of this great game.

I'm also really big into modding Elder Scrolls games so the fact that I can mod DFU is just another great thing!

It seems appropriate to drop a post here. I'm new to DFU, I got into TES with Morrowind but I went back to DF and fell in love with it on DOSBox. Being able to play it on a more modern engine with more (incredible) modding possibilities and flashy graphics (D.R.E.A.M ) is amazing. Bethesda has really lost the plot with the series (and also the Fallout series) in my opinion, every release is further limited in scope and the way they are milking Skyrim with CC DLC to this day while we don't even have a TES VI is disappointing. It's great to see this game getting some of the attention it deserves in a gaming climate where there's nothing like it. Big thanks to everyone that has worked on making it a reality, especially Interkarma.

Greetings all. Many thanks to Interkarma and the DFU team. DF clasic player from way back in the day. Very glad to see it get the love it deserves. Thanks to the modding community, also. Old programmer and Systems Manager but I doubt I would be of any current use due to the brain turning into cottage cheese (small curd type). Thanks for all you do.
