I wanted a mod that let you see which towns you have visited but it would probably be much easier to make a mod which pulls city names from a .txt file and shows them as a different color than regular cities and towns. You could make your own favorites list by having them display as purple or something instead of light tan. It would be easy to exchange travel lists by doing this.
