Re: Loading classic save spellbook and handling fixed length strings in C#

Seven years of college down the drain. https://getyarn.io/yarn-clip/e658e6bc-018d-4d31-9c1f-593c25b994eb /me smashes beer can on head. :D No problem. I was just looking to dig into the code somewhere. 100% of my Unity and C# experience is now in playing with this which was actually the point. The o...

Re: Loading classic save spellbook and handling fixed length strings in C#

Hello Interkarma, I took another stab at this tonight. You were already using your 'ReadCString' to read the spell name. The problem appears to be the assumption that a C-String is null padded rather than just null terminated. It appears that AFTER the null termination, anything that happened to hav...

Re: Loading classic save spellbook and handling fixed length strings in C#

Thanks, The file is already parsed and sitting in records in StartGameBehaviour.StartFromClassicSave() as part of the saveGames local variable ( saveGames is a the property SaveGames.SaveTree and seems to be loaded from the SaveGames.TryOpenSave(classicSaveIndex) method). I'm retrieving the list by ...

Loading classic save spellbook and handling fixed length strings in C#

Hi all, This might be a dumb question if you've been around for a while. Sorry if that's the case. I figured I'd take a stab at loading the spell book from classic saves since it's basically just stubbed out with a TODO right now. I understand someone else may be working on this but I just wanted to...

Lycanthropy and truncated stats and health misbahvior

Hello all, I almost posted this in "bugs" but I wanted to check to see if this behavior was intentional first. Stat issue: I have an unhacked classic save where I'm level 9 with lycanthropy (wolf). I got lycanthropy somewhere around level 4-5 and ended up with 100 STR. Since then I added a few point...

Re: How can I contribute to the DFU project?

MasonFace, Thank you! I'll start there. I don't have a particular goal in mind at this point, I really just want to understand how the code works. I love Daggerfall and have always been interested in getting into game development casually but never did. This looks like it can be a great place to sta...

Re: How can I contribute to the DFU project?

Hello all,

I had the same question but I've been a coder for a long time and in open source for a long time, though not gaming or game engines (nor, C#, but I'm sure I can pick it up). Can someone recommend the best way to understand the code base? Is there a developer's guide anywhere?

Thanks
Jim
