Re: Visual Quest Editor

Anyone who has delved into the shader tree system they use in Poser would eat this for breakfast (or flee in terror, depending), and it would be a good way to permit those who don't have a coder's touch to get in on the fun. I agree with Jayhova, having an option to see the code output would be a wa...

Re: [MOD] Daggerfall Skyshards

Okay, this is evil. Dragging all the completist newbies out into the wilds of DF, getting them lost and searching, marching on and on and on.......

I love it!

Re: New house, new room.

Tell me about it. HVAC is a definite pro job. Ours died at 10 years on the dot. Found out the unit used was 2/3rds the size needed for the square footage, which explained it running flat out all the time. We had always had a lot of dust in the house, and discovered when they replaced it that the air...

Re: New house, new room.

One step at a time can be cheaper and easier, no two ways. I've been doing the 'The house is paid off, I'm retired, now I can do something about the contractor grade stuff'. Andersen will be out this coming week to replace the windows, which should save us some in cooling and heating. I'm about 70% ...

Re: Who here has finished this game?

At least 7 times since release, and will be starting #8 when I finish configuring the new game box and get all the games downloaded again. So at least a couple of weeks, probably. That doesn't include all the time I spent void rangering, hee hee.

Someone on Discord mentioned that apparently the original HMI files had custom loop points. I don't know the validity of this claim. Are you aware of such things, Interkarma?
That was one of the features of hmi, which was specifically intended for game usage.

Re: Music doesn't loop seamlessly?

I'm not sure if any of the songs loop from a point other than the start. Does the .mid format itself support addition of loop points? The MIDI synth in Daggerfall Unity is built on the open source and cross platform C# Synth Project adapted for Unity starting from the information here with a few ve...

Re: Sudden restart of PC

Yeah, a decade old power supply is likely getting a bit cranky. You might want to look at the 1st gen Threadrippers if you want power to spare for the future (and don't want to pay Intel prices), since they have fallen in price big time since the 2nd gen are out. I've been building a beast for gamin...

Re: Sudden restart of PC

I'll agree on the Power supply as the most likely.. It could be either one of the 12v rails is beginning to fail, or the soft on logic was possibly damaged in a power surge. Just had to replace the wife's supply after the UPS partially failed due to repetitive surges. The most common motherboard iss...

Re: Trees Of Daggerfall [PERFORMANCE PROBLEM/SOLUTIONS]

Speaking as a user of Vue Infinite for several years, the billboard density is outright murder on both framerate and raytracing. Even an optimized render engine and instancing for animation requires clever placement of occlusion to keep rendering speeds from outright stalling due to light calculatio...
