Re: Suggestion: Attributes above 100

In-universe, I interpret 100 to be the absolute peak of mortal achievement. On the other hand, if an option to let them grow indefinitely becomes available in the future, I'd love to see it as something that can be "unlocked" during normal play. After all, there's no shortage of deities in the Elder...

Re: OpenMW, Morrowind remakes

He wanted off of Github and even floated ditching support for non-open-source operating systems i.e. just support Linux for now. Obviously not many reacted positively to this and he ragequit the project. Some more clarity is needed: that was a parting remark in response to some wise guy in the thre...

Re: OpenMW, Morrowind remakes

I wouldn't say OpenMW is controversial by any means. :) It's a huge positive all around - and for the most part, the recent discussions were of no concern to the average player. The existence of tes3mp (which is a marvel in itself) and the fact that some people are now playing Morrowind on their pho...

Re: Question about texture lighting

Amazing what limitations can do for a game's charm. Thank you very much for the detailed (and very interesting) explanation. :)

I agree with your middle-ground approach. Above all else, a finished game may attract many pairs of hands, and allow the best of both worlds.

Question about texture lighting

Interkarma, I don't suppose you know what the technical term is when the lightest pixels in an image are lit earlier than the darkest? As in, the image doesn't brighten or darken in a uniform fashion, but sort of pops in a pleasing manner, like messing with the Levels tool in Photoshop. Sorry that I...

Re: Walk Time Per Chunk

Whew... imagine a "no fast travel challenge" of the main quest. Might as well force Rest to happen in real-time while you're at it. :)

Spoiler!
(Okay, sleeping is effectively a real world time skip, but the game assumes you're still awake long enough to do things like Medical)

Re: DaggerXL FarTerrain

I was impressed that the far terrain appears to retain a lot of fine geographical detail even at vast distances - something I haven't seen in other terrain implementations. To be sure, in no way did I mean to deny Daggerfall Unity's manifest achievement, or that this was something necessary to incor...

DaggerXL FarTerrain

It's a shame that the development of DaggerXL has seemingly halted for good. Some of the unique features its developer Lucius was working on, like the rendering of distant terrain, looked very impressive. https://youtu.be/NwTWrdB6vIU https://web.archive.org/web/20170502140956/http://www.xlengine.com...

Re: Music doesn't loop seamlessly?

Does the .mid format itself support addition of loop points? I haven't been able to find an answer to that one - the original question came to mind because I seem to recall many game music tracks of yesteryear having such things; most commonly, a short (or long) intro that played only once before r...

Re: Music doesn't loop seamlessly?

Will be very grateful to see this improved. The game is going to feel so much better when all music is playing properly.

Are there any music tracks in vanilla Daggerfall that loop from a different point than the beginning? And does DFU already have the functionality to handle that?
