The eroded height-map is just a lot of work and unless I can actually see results from it to tweak it, it's really not worth getting into in the mean time. Well, I did all the object textures. Here is a download link, just plop the textures folder into DaggerfallUnity_Data/StreamingAssets I didn't do sprites because if I keep them transparent, their outlines come out all blocky and gross. I can indeed run all of Daggerfall's textures and sprites through this. I find that the upscaler really screws up with white or transparent backgrounds, and just excels (well, as long as faces aren't involved) when the background is a dark blue-ish colour like you saw in some of those, so it's just ...

This stuff is cool! I've always wondered how well AI upscaling would work for old games like Daggerfall, nice to see it works quite well. I imagine if it gets trained on actual sprites and textures rather than real photos, the results would be incredible. Anyway, I was curious so I signed up for a 3...

I would be working on this and trying out different things, for example, a while back I hand-made a more detailed heightmap based off of the overworld map. I made mountains and valleys corresponding to those visible on the map to make the erosion more varied and interesting, though it can work on it...

One further thing is water regions. If they don't match exactly locations will end up in water. Furthermore lakes also have to be at sea level to get water texture. There is currently no possibility to "raise" the level of a lake I'm afraid that would just make the landscapes look like the surface ...

What about at a less detailed resolution like 400m/px or 200m/px. They would both still be a fair improvement over the original.

Daggerfall's map is 1:2 in aspect ratio and is approximately 800km x 400km, with a 1000x500 heightmap If its 2:1 ratio than the measurement should be 576x288Km to get 165,000Km2. With your measurements the area is double (330,000Km2), which would be DF inaccurate and still unnecessarily big. ...Tho...
