Re: AI Upscaled Textures

Best results on this tab was with manga, but no prefilter, but yours is better, more sharp and defined I ran a test with the same image (with the one-pass xBRZ preprocessing as described above) with Cartoon Painted (80k) and MyManga109 (250k) models (each lightly interpolated with basic ESRGAN at a...

Re: High resolution paperdoll

Honestly, this will be better to leave for a AI upscaling. It produces a great results and will save hours upon hours of work. Than those AI results can be adjusted by the artist. That results will be 110% I ran a little test with the official Bethesda paperdoll screenshot (showing an impossible we...

Re: AI Upscaled Textures

What program are you using to do the Kuwahara-Nagao filter? I don't recall seeing it in Gimp 2.10. I use mtPaint for both the KN blur and converting images to indexed palettes. Just don't forget to select no dithering and to set the colour space to RGB in the options of the convert to indexed menu....

Re: AI Upscaled Textures

In the meantime I ran a brief test with the other models but wasn't really happy with any of them. Then I ran a test sprite sheet of Dagerfall monsters through cartoonpainted, with the result vastly superior to my previous attempt : https://i.imgur.com/GFWmAVH.png The outlines of the figures are muc...

Re: AI Upscaled Textures

Hey folks, though you clearly have some very advanced and specific workflows, I thought I would share this tool. GUI for ESRGAN with waifu2x prefiltering and model blending. We have some experts on these forums by now, but it might be a good way for the less technical to dip their toes in. That's v...

Re: AI Upscaled Textures

In the meantime I expanded upon the xBR/xBRZ multipass method I described earlier. As the up- and downscaling iterations resulted in blurring, I tried to counter that with sharpening the source image prior to scaling it with xBR(Z). This produced pretty decent results. I also came to the conclusion ...

Re: Daggerfall Spiritual Successor Project (Artists Needed!)

This is excellent news, and I wish you guys best of luck with this project! I've been working on something really similar to a Daggerfall spiritual successor for 2-3 months. I'm mainly a programmer, but I took the role of designer and even started doing my own 3D assets for the game. I'm starting to...

Re: AI Upscaled Textures

My thoughts about how the xBR(Z) upscale affected the neural upscale result prompted me to test pre-processing with several passes of xBR. That is, upscale image once with xBR(Z), then scale down to the original resolution (this time I used Sinc instead of Bicubic because it produces less ringing as...
