Re: DOS32A?

A while ago I tried DOS32A in my attempts to optimize Daggerfall 's performance in DOSBox. The DOS extender is embedded in FALL.EXE so you need to use a DOS32A command that replaces the embedded extender with a DOS32A one. This is described in the extender's documentation and also here in the UESP W...

Re: Ultima Underworld Unity - UnderworldExporter

Nice! AFAIK there've been several attempts to make an Ultima Underworld engine recreation before (some also aimed to have System Shock compatibility), with the most complete known to me being Underworld Adventures , but it hasn't been updated since over ten years ago. I can't tell from the video the...

Re: OpenTESArena 0.7.0 Released!

I wasn't satisfied with my previous results so I tried another method of smoothing the source images without blurring. For this I ran each screenshot through xBRZ ScalerTest to scale it up at 4x the original size, then loaded the result in GIMP, applied the pixelate blur filter at 4 pixel radius and...

Re: OpenTESArena 0.7.0 Released!

In the meantime I played around with waifu2x scaling and figured out that you can get decent results for many VGA mode game screenshots if you blur the image a bit before processing. Here's the results I got for Arena using official screenshots from the preview: https://i.imgur.com/uL4dV5G.png https...

Re: New to Daggerfall, is it better to start with vanilla?

That said... the control schemes, especially when it comes to mouselook or the lack thereof, in older games can be pretty brutal for me since I've gotten too used to the convenience of modern sourceports and the like. Was very pleasantly surprised at how well the game could be adapted to more moder...

Re: Better Villager by AXO WiP FemaleBreton Released

For Waifu users: So I read in the various post in the forum that there are problems with the square edges wen you use waifu, and maybe you want to know how I got this result, you need to know that like most of the subroutine work that they do rescaling programs, they do it on the levels of contrast...

Re: [Idea] waifu2x/xBRZ "hybrid" sprite scaling method

I dont like the dancing lady results too much to be honest I don't like it either :) She needs a lot of manual clean-up, probably including before scaling to get the dark pixels away from the edges, but also since the original sprite has very low detail there isn't much for waifu2x to enhance. At l...

Re: [Idea] waifu2x/xBRZ "hybrid" sprite scaling method

I played around a bit more with this, and also used some feedback I got in the Duke4.net forums . Here's a result of a small semi-random selection of pre-rendered sprites (converted to the original Daggerfall palette): https://i.imgur.com/zKy6vPR.gif This time I used only a one pixel thin outline cr...
