Re: Daggerfall Setup for Linux

I see. Keep in mind that there are spins available with different desktop environments (Xubuntu, Kubuntu, Lubuntu, etc.). I don't like stock Ubuntu's Unity UI either. I only bring this up because I remember Debian being extremely irritating to arrange in a way that I found tolerable - for example no...

Re: Daggerfall Setup for Linux

Yeah, Debian doesn't include a user "bin" directory in the user's path, so the shortcut can't be found unless using an absolute path. I'll just change the icon shortcut slightly in the next release. I'm curious, Jay; is there a reason you're using Debian instead of something like Ubuntu or Linux Min...

Re: Daggerfall Setup for Linux

If I had to guess, this is some Debian weirdness. Do this at a terminal as you ( not root): echo $PATH Post the output back here. All I can say for now is that Debian always has these little quirks that I've never much cared for.. guessing a locked-down path may be one of those things. If you just w...

Re: Daggerfall Setup for Linux

Which version are you using? That should already be fixed. I think I may have caught it in-between uploads, so maybe you got one of those. The filename and md5sum I'm getting for the script after download are as follows: taemos@box:~$ md5sum Downloads/8af88-dagger_install.sh 5d7ecb6b487ffb9c454d788c...

Re: Daggerfall Setup for Linux

It looks like you're running the script as root, which I wouldn't necessarily recommend. I'll put in a check to discourage that at a later time, as well as make a ".config" directory if it doesn't exist (which it normally does in non-root accounts). The Pirates "bug" is known behavior, I guess I was...

Re: Daggerfall Setup for Linux

New version . I'm just going to update the top post from now on. Interkarma, if this thread needs to go elsewhere please feel free to move it. I didn't see a "General Daggerfall" area so this seemed like the best place. Changes: -Added graphical fixes by MrFlibble -Cleaned up the script a bit - it ...

Re: Daggerfall Setup for Linux

DaggerfallSetup is what initially gave me the idea to do this for Linux; I guess that would've been more clear had I not put the space in the title of the thread. The author used Inno Setup, for which (as far as I know) there is no Linux equivalent, so I have to go about this in a different way. I'm...

Re: Daggerfall Setup for Linux

I'm glad to hear it should see some use! I've also noticed that the MIDI device wasn't properly selected, so that should be fixed in the next release. It actually sounds quite close to what I remember hearing in 1996, although I'm not sure if this is due to my using a decent dedicated sound card or ...

Re: Daggerfall Setup for Linux

I've uploaded a "teaser" -- it's pretty bare-bones but it successfully installs and configures DOSBox and Daggerfall in Xubuntu. This is essentially "feature complete" in comparison with Daggerfall Setup for Windows, with the current exceptions of extra quests, additional languages other than Englis...
