Realtime fast-forward resting/loitering
Tedious resting mod
It would be nice to actually see what is happening while you are resting
We already have a command to speed up the time, and to me it works quite reliably.
Look at how oblivion does it
So it might be possible to simulate the world while your hp etc is recharging?
Lets see the sun travel the sky, moons float around, darkness turn morning..
Etc..
I think this video is the example of nice universal solution:
Indoors, outdoors, resting, loitering
Just detach the camera and let the time acceleration do its thing.
Any problematic part in this?
Idea is have the resting camera points.
Every DFU Province = one camera point to switch to while resting
Resting inside = no camera switch, keep it the way it was OR do the same switch as outside
So this way, only if you rest outside, you get the camera showing the time progress.
And I would use the same exact thing for loitering as well Id say...
Optionaly - No camera sequences in dungeons and buildings - solves many issues and at the same time feels realistic.
You have no idea what is happening outside when you at privateers hold for example.
For dungs, more advanced stuff would be seeing a fireplace during your sleep tho!
Just giving some options/ideas around

Call it tedious resting. Make sure you can't disable it.

Re: Realtime fast-forward resting/loitering
Well, thats the name Ive proposed
And its fast forward... id like it to be comparably fast as standard resting, so there would be no need to disable it, other than low end PC struggling to simulate the world - which I doubt will be the case, as I can run the time so fast on my old pc the sun just orbits in few moments.

Loitering would work, but resting often teleports you to a bed which would not really be compatible. Also staring at walls doesn't seem too interesting.

It's also typical to close your eyes to sleep (unless you suffer from nocturnal lagophthalmos), so if the game stays in first person view (which I assume), I don't think it would actually improve RP experience...
Maybe if you're a vampire ?

Well... so lets detach the camera and put it 50 or 100 metres up when outside?pango wrote: ↑Mon May 27, 2019 6:58 pm It's also typical to close your eyes to sleep (unless you suffer from nocturnal lagophthalmos), so if the game stays in first person view (which I assume), I don't think it would actually improve RP experience...

Inside, its complicated, I agree :X It would require a load to the outside, and thats not good.
So keep it only for exteriors.
It would be really nice. To see the sun moving etc...
As hazelnut said, maybe just for loitering... would make a sense.

Re: Realtime fast-forward resting/loitering
I think this is basically a good idea.
For loitering, there seems to be a consensus.
For resting, simulating the outside world - without displaying it to the player - would be a good addition because of problems like determining if you got caught when resting where you were not supposed to.

Re: Realtime fast-forward resting/loitering
Suggestion:
Loitering: Change the black background for your FPS view and speed up time.
Resting: Switch to just showing the currently loaded sky (and weather?) and then speed up time.
I know the resting version is a bit boring, but it would at least be realtively easy to implement compared to moving the camera somewhere else etc.
