Re: Thievery Overhaul
The issue is that Daggerfall is a single character game. The PC is alone in a dungeon crawl and generally faces lone enemies. the thief is a great party character because of backstabbing hiding opening locks disarming traps etc.
Remember always 'What would Julian Do?'.

That may be true in a way, but the lone thief is a character well attested in fiction and gaming already, and the fact remains that most of the thief skills they have simply don't work as advertised, making the thief path, one third of the trinity of the game, very underpowered.

Not just underpowered but unfun - the cardinal sin of gaming. I'm fine with underpowered if it's still entertaining - especially in a game like Daggerfall where there's so many ways to compensate for your lack of power (or just outright break the game).
DFUnity has at least made backstabbing more satisfying (mostly by infighting making it more likely that enemies will have their backs to you in the first place) but for the most part it's just not very exciting. It feels like rolling a Thief in Eye of the Beholder.
