The contributors hall.

Post by King of Worms » Mon Mar 02, 2020 6:32 pm

Id like to see a new place in DFU. Some remote place without fast travel point. Hidden in mountains, there is a fortress. When u enter, u get into the hall.

In that hall there will be something like shrine places or paintings etc. Each painting will have its description like Name (real, virtual or both) What that person did and either real or virtal or both photo/image.

I think it would be nice to have such a hidden place. So only those who know can visit it and it would be not lore distracting.

Extra points for making it look like Dungeon Master's Hall of Champions
Can you start over with a customized class if you click on a portrait?

Haha that should be the name of the place!!!

Hall of Champions

That place must be created. Games have the hidden rooms and places like this. Ppl dont read credits, but like secrets. Think of Interkarma. Is one line in a credits it? Hes a God 😂 And the hard core contributors.. its a big list. I want all these ppl to be in the game - for ever.

I want to be able to go to that place after 5 years, and see all the names, images. Maybe some notes from them.

Its a sort of immortality. It must be done. Like - theres no other way.

I like this idea a lot, developer easter eggs are a must and what's better than a tribute like this? The people doing the real work (aka not me) deserve to be immortalized.

Sounds to me like a special dungeon block and location added via world data system. Maybe a simple hall would be a good way to prove out your tools for adding new dungeons Burt? :D

Burt, if you add the Hall, you deserve to be in it :D

PS: I think just adding any location to the world and linking any interrior to it would be a good start.
As we can see in the Taverns Redone mod, the interior can be customized completely including the walls layout.

I just experimented with it briefly, but it seem user friendly.

Also, this block MIGHT be good base... it will need expansion tho, 6 places are not enough :)

Thanks, I'll make the hall but really dont consider myself worthy to be in it :D

So far what ive been doing is childs play compared to others imo. That includes the people currently in this thread :) I will add myself in another way appropriate to my name

In any case, I think we will need a list of all the contributors? It would be nice if we can figure out a way to give everyone an appropriate personal touch and build the dungeon accordingly.

- edit

Yes, I had that hall in mind :D It can be made quite long and lead to a room or a tomb (as in the other model pieces that fit to those, Ive been mapping the classic sets to figure out how they work).

I'll see if I can whip up a concept this weekend

If you're looking for a list, there's the credits thread

46 people.. so the Hall should have place for 64 to have some spare room if any Champion arises in the future
Until that happens, those free places might have just a burning candle placeholders.

Yep, I'll add some free spaces and see if I can maybe hide them behind walls until they're needed, burning candle placeholder is good idea too. I'll see what looks better.
