Over the last week, I have been working on a replacement font for the standard DF font. I wanted to make it so the new font would fit in the same general shape as the classic font but would be scalable. Fortunately, a TrueType version of the original font exists which gave me a good starting point. At small sizes, the two fonts are difficult to tell apart. Some letters were quite difficult to reproduce so I may take another stab at it at some point.

Yup, the small sized version looks very simillar to the original, thank you for your work on this!

There are a number of utilities out there to convert True/OpenType fonts to SDF fonts but they are above my pay grade. https://github.com/raphm/makeglfont

Hmm, this to me is a bit more pleasant :) Though I feel like something's missing with the shadows gone.
Try over 120 all-new quests in the first Daggerfall Unity Quest Pack.

if you look closely on the picture, the shadows are still there. There was no reason to remove them. I did not quite match the yellows on the text so the original has a bit more contrast. I assume the engine generates the drop shadows in the normal way.

I want to do this for all the fonts in the game. This would allow for upscaled and modern GUI mods to use the same font styles as classical Daggerfall. Where do I locate other fonts used in the game? Is the gold font used on this screen only in the form used on bitmap images?

I've been meaning to write a reference article about creating new SDF fonts and getting them into the game. I'll put that together over next few days.

Sweet! I wanted to ask about font effects and how they are handled if at all in DFU. Obviously, there are drop shadows in the existing font. Also, I have still not been able to find information on where in the game I can find the other fonts used.
