I upscaled and modified two vanilla sprites ;)

Thank you :)
I finally have been able to spend some time on it and i changed a few things:
  • Plants now are more on the mainland and don't invade narrow rivers.
  • I thinks billboards are nice for vast areas of land as it always look full of grass on every side you look, but for water plants i decided it is worth using the grass shader so they look a bit more tridimensional like in modern games. Plants still move in the wind and also waterlilies move back and forth on the water surface as if it was slighty rippled by the wind.
  • I started making different vegetation for different climates, i plan to expand it more.

Really nice work!

I think however that the colors of the plants stand out way to much then they should. Too dark and saturated, so they don't really match the rest of the graphics. Other than that I really like it! :)

I'm excited to see if and how you will expand it further!

Thank you :) I plan to introduce more seasonal differences, maybe add little stones to the ground, if it looks good. For the future, i was thinking to try make the woods more dense with little bushes and grass. This would require the code to check on wich specific tile certain billboards (big trees) are located, and place a layer of grass there and only there, and not on the same tiles wich form an open field. But maybe (probably) this isn't even possible, it's just a though i had.

Rocks and stones are actually something *farmers typically spend a lot of time getting out of their fields. You won't see rocks on tilled ground, because every time the plow hits one, or just digs one up, one of the farmer's children carries it off the field. Generally, it'd then be used in a wall.

Of course, I've never actually been on a pre-modern farm, and I'm not an archaeologist or a historian. So, not insisting or anything. Just AFAIK. :)

* Pre-modern. I don't know how it works on modern farms.

I see. Though, i'm not an expert or anything but i believe there are still some little stones on the ground. Anyway, I only wanted to make the terrain more "rough" and nicer looking, it's ok if it's not completely realistic :)
Spoiler!
