Oh, didn't know that. Allright, i will update archive later with transparent one to make it more immersive as Nikita proposed earlier.
Here are a few examples, taken from Daggerfall's ghost enemy. These turn nearly transparent in-game:

By the way, the wooden compass uses "ES" for southeast and "WN" for northwest, when they should be SE and NW :)

Hey Jay, I tried to use pink color but it still doesnt make compass background transparent. Maybe this transparency option is hard-coded in some way for certain sprites.
What about small letters - i wanted for them to show at which side north or south is located so made them this way. No problem tho, i still have all the PSD files, i can fix them.

A little update:
1. Fixed SE and NW letters
2. Redesigned Daedric and Silver frames (i think you will agree they were pretty meh :) )
3. There was a small transparency gap in Classic theme, fixed that. Also some slight overall refinement.
4. Replaced Win95 theme with new one - "Scroll". I think it suits the game better.
