I've conceived my own interface project, and I want to design a very simple interface. One that functions with all the necessities, but none of the design. May I ask how you begun?

I personally have always played these games for the high level of immersion and role playing, so any menu/gui that is less noticeable, intrusive, and more intuitive the better.
