Thanks Arctus ;) It starts to all fit together slowly...

Load Menu
- would be great if the save screenshot could cover the whole area
- plus if we can get rid of the black borders around the whole menu
- option to hide the white generic lines around the buttons
("Switch Character" / "Delete save" buttons seems to have it hidden already)

Thanks Nystul :)

Unfortunately, the Monsters really massacre the RAM/VRAM/PAGING FILE... there is a room for optimalization on my side, but Id say something should be done on a engine side as well. Its described on the previous page in that long wall of text plus in red.

Anyway, here is the promised and elusive..

TEXTURE UPSCALING PROJECT v0.1 DEMO

Rest is described in the readme there, make sure to read it please!
Hope you all who are eager to test this will enjoy :)
Link will be ready in cca one hour from now, its 850mb compressed

Thanks Im glad you like that. Its made to be accompanied with Jmanowars Terrain Flats, I did not upscale the flats he hand drawn as that felt redundant. But Im sure you already have those flats he made, and the textures etc :)

Anyway, whats your setup please?
GFX Card (VRAM), how much RAM? Can you tell how much of it is used? Maybe you use MSI Afterburner to monitor those values? That would be precious feedback...

EDIT: Also, try to make a new avatar, so you can see the awesome screens by Arl .)

King of Worms wrote: That memory usage seems a bit excessive, I pray that something can be done about this... but once you get in game, it runs ok... just it takes a time... for now, Id say the recomended specs are 16gb ram and 8gb Vram LOL :D

I GUESS THAT ITS BECAUSE IF THERES FOR EX 30 RATS, 20 BATS and 10 SKELETONS IT LOADS 30x10mb + 20x10mb + 10x10mb = 600mb worth of assets ? Instead of 30mb? There must be a workaround for this, right?
Materials are cached when they're loaded for the first time. The first loading screen can take some time if you import a lot of textures because cache is still empty, then it should get faster.

Thanks for a reply! Im just experimenting with it now. To me it seems strange that if my texture pack has 1gb it can fill up whole VRAM (3,5gb) ram (8gb) and paging file (up to 16gb)

I tryed to halve the resolution of all monsters (some were really excessive I admit) - now the game runs much better. Id say 2gb VRAM, 6gb RAM, 8gb Paging file in a 1st load in Privateers hold. Than I exit it to outside- and it gets to 3gb vram, 8gb ram, 10gb Paging file... (And the outside is NOT modded - stock textures)

If I lets say clear up the Privateers hold, exit it and than load the save from a castle, my memory gets full again. Id say there should be some MEM Cleaning mechanism included. I THINK that all the textures stay in ram and that it has no limit. I think if you leave the dungeon, that the Monster textures and Dung textures should be wiped out of the ram. That should be a fast process. Than load the new textures etc. That can increase the loading times - I understand that. But something fishy is there, the MEM gets desacrated...

Maybe you can download my texture pack, its just 850mb. And try how it works for you... load a 1st dungeon with many mobs, than go out, than load different save etc. Mem gets full really fast.

And it became very noticeable with my upscaled mosters installed. Even with 1/2 res, MEM gets full quite fast...

@TheLacus
Yep, the more places you zone into, it starts to load much faster, I dont get much video lagging either..
It runs ways better that old builds, and I love the options sliders look :D
