Useless fantasize and thinking about project's future.

Post by CrazyCyrodilicCat »

Hi everybody. I'm thinking more and more about one thing: there are so many different people here, and probably each of you wants to see a game that is completely different from the dream game of another member of the community. Someone just wants to see Daggerfall on Unity, someone just wants an expanded and transformed version of the old game, and someone wants to completely rewrite the main product, leaving only the basic ideas and atmosphere. Maybe I missed that moment when everybody was sharing their view of Daggerfall Unity, then I'm sorry, but if there wasn't one, I'd like to ask you: what do you think Daggerfall's dream is?

I will start with my own wishes and fantasies:
As far as graphics is concerned, I'd like to see Daggerfall play a game with graphics from the first introduction of 3D, but with a number of useful features of modernity that would complement and improve the visual style, such as enough animations and lighting to make the game play in a completely different colour to that of Hexen.
It would be nice to somehow realize the digestible views in the game. No, I wouldn't ask Daggerfall to be a beautiful desktop picture generator like Skyrim, I just think that diversifying the world by forests with more or less plausible arrangement, with simple rivers and streams, rocks and just what forms the terrain and makes it a forest or plain. Some standard population like bears, foxes, wolves and other fauna.
Naturally, I would like more realistic cities, not a set of houses, standing at an unnaturally large distance from each other and surrounded by a square wall. We need some infrastructure and logic of the city. Also, from the category of unattainable, I would like to see some interaction between NPCs and the world, so that they sleep and eat. In short, to make them live.
Dungeons, as the main part of the game, should be much more diverse, both in terms of the materials they consist of, and in terms of equipment and functionality. And, of course, there is no need for such monstrosity. Of course, there has to be a certain complexity, obstruction and absolute unfriendliness to the player, but it has to be an event, not an ordinary thing, in my opinion. I hope I have expressed myself correctly.
As for the gameplay, of course, I want the responsiveness of the control, which, in my opinion, is present in Skyrim, where archery is performed at a great level, and, if desired, slightly revised, it can be adapted to the system of chances of hits. Thief is the best, but requires a little polishing to integrate into the RPG combat system, if I understand correctly what it is, in my opinion, as a man who played very little computer games. The player shoots, the opponent either misses the kick, or defends, or parries and counterattacks, or dodges, and it all depends on the characteristics of the attacker and defender and is accompanied by appropriate animations. Stealth is becoming more and more difficult, because to implement the "hide and seek" and steal the level of the aforementioned Thief you need to completely rearrange the levels, and combine all the styles, ranging from rogue and ending with a magician and knight. However, if I'm fantasizing, we'll put it in the list of impossible, but tempting, too.
Finally, I would just like to say about the companions. I really want something like Divinity OS2, NWN2 and DAO.

Why am I asking you to give me a list of your wishes? To get a rough idea of what the community wants, and if someday we can all decide what we want, and roughly build a route that we can follow to create a TES of dream, I'm sure that by joining forces, we can all get what we want. I'm not sure it will be possible to realize it on Unity, but it will be decided in the process of thinking.

I'll tell you one thing about myself: I'm a lazy and untalented guy, but I'M CRAZYCYRODILICCAT AND I HAVE A DREAM.

Sorry for my english.

Not to in any way discourage your dreams - which is what DFU modding is all about! - but I suggest that trying to get the "community" to agree on the ideal set of mods, if that is your intention, is pointless. Everyone has very different preferences when it comes to graphics, gameplay, etc. The best thing to do is look for mods you personally enjoy, or if you have the time and interest to use the helpful tutorials available on the DFU forums/site, make your own!

Nah, I'll just move it over to the modding section. Anywhere from General to Modding would work, but I think that's a fine place to put it ;)

I'm not trying to force anyone, I'm just trying to find common ground with all of us. I'll try to create something myself, but since I don't know how to do anything and I'm not too interested in modeling and drawing, I'd like to bring in some specialists, but it's a matter of time and money when I have a budget. I would really like to provide people who know how to make fashion with the resources to make it happen.

Sorry, I didn't mean to imply you're forcing anybody; was just commenting about expectations. There are hundreds of ideas in the Mods & Features forum you might look through, if you haven't already. And if you are ever interested in modding, there are some great tutorials that will teach you - no prior experience necessary!

A lot of what you're asking is already modded out, and i cant find a single thing you said that people haven't either wanted or made a mod for yet! so you're in luck!
