Giant Hunting with victim rescue

Just did a Giant Hunting quest for the FG. When I get to the quest objective, there is an NPC there.

I kill the giant, click on the NPC and get a side quest to escort her to a general store.
I kill a bunch of more giants that spawn.
Rest a few hours in the dungeon without any more giants appearing.
Escort NPC to general store. She thanks me and her face disappears from the HUD.
I return to FG, talk to questor who thanks me and gives me gold.

The quest does not disappear from my log.
I can not activate the questor.

Quest timed out and I got "Thank you for your help but I think I can find my way from here."
The quest acted like I was still escorting the NPC.
The quest is now gone from the log.

FG rep went up by 5.
