Loading is faster, but not by order of magnitude as the initialization.

One more thing... prepare for a 5gb download
Have you tried LZ4 compression too, in terms of packaging speed, loading speed, size, etc? I'm just curious

Hi Ive tryed lz4 but in that time the DFMODs Ive created were not working. I had to go back to older version of unity and change the way Ive updated the master.

So I have not tested it - yet.

I will try it, but Im quite sure, in terms of performance, the LZ4 cant be better than uncompressed.
And since we are basically in a 5gb range, I think the size is reasonable.

I will try it laters... but its a lot of time and efforts for what really..
I might do it for the community tho...

There should be the possibility to compress it to the native graphics card format?
Previous experience tells me it's very easy to misunderstand the tone, intent, or meaning of what I've posted. If you have questions, ask.

This is about the compression of the mod, not of the data inside it.
Or more simply put... what is inside the mod is always the same, just the packaging of the mod is different. Think about it as a rar or zip...
It reduces the size, but doesnt change what is inside.
The more you reduce the size, the more you need to wait for it to unpack.
This creates the longer loads and long initialization.
Now we can skip the compression...
So we get the benefits of faster loads/initialization. Only downsize is it takes more space on your HDD.
But since its just a few gb we talking about here, this is not a problem.
Data is in the GFX card friendly format no matter the compression of the package

Btw done more testing, and the game just flyes now...
Get ready :)

lz4 is 50% of the size of uncompressed btw...

Ingame screenshot... finally!

Main map by VMblast
Borders by MasonFace
Ive put it together, and added the KoW kind of touches (reflections of ship and sea monster, and the shadows around the map so it fits the screen and borders better, plus soem work on the actual borders...

Next step is the texts... not sure I can import it now, time will tell

And the upscaled local maps... there are few edges on them, 1280*640 resolution is not enough so they get rescaled... might up it laters

Would be pretty amazing if someone could render the terrain height-map as lighting and shadows for the local maps. Think it's possible? Or would it not line up right?

I think it is already the case? Dark areas are higher than light ones.. is it what you mean?

It might be accurate. I'd have to go exploring, but I'd want it to be good enough to navigate in first person by.

I think its very rough.. low resolution. But it gives a basic idea... would be cool if it was more precise. I actually never tested it out yet

I think I will upgrade the artifacts a bit.. just two of them, rest I will just upscale and manually redraw.
But these two... they haunt me.

Azuras Star & Oghma Infinitum

Oghma has in a description that is a tome.. basically a book.
And Azuras star I think we all know...

But they both look like this (and thats after upscale)

Uh...

What about something more like this, from a TES lore?
