Love the mod, and I'm using most parts of it in my current game. Last month you mentioned possibly revisiting the horse sprite in the pixel version - while I'm massively impressed with all the repaint work, I prefer my old games to still have the chunky pixel look (though with the new lighting/shadow effects).

The horse reins are getting on my wick a bit seeing as I'm using Tedious Travel, so I was wondering if I could help out at all? I wouldn't have a clue about extracting sprites or modding, but if someone could point me in the right direction I reckon I could MSPaint them a bit :)

I took a screenshot and had a tinker with it, I was thinking something like this:

Well if you can do every frame and split into separate files, as detailed in this post, with correct alpha then I'll add it in the next version of the mod. Note you only need to do the extra neck files if that's all you're changing. The pixel sizes quoted were for the high res versions for Dream mod. You should produce files that are 106x21 pixels (22 instead of 21 pixels high would also be fine I think)

Beginner’s question - is there a way I can extract the original horse sprites to work from?

Just uploaded a new version of this mod, v0.6, to Nexus containing the huge new Fighters Guild Master quest and custom armor service. Requires DFU v0.10.13 to work.

https://www.nexusmods.com/daggerfallunity/mods/16

Look forward to seeing what you all think. Thanks to Ralzar for beta testing it for me, it would be nowhere near as good without his suggestions, editing and bug finding!

Check the first post for more details.

All the code can be found here: https://github.com/ajrb/dfunity-mods

It's intended to be an example to other mod authors of what can be done and how.

It's not a beginners question, I'm actually not sure because usually I would use Daggerfall Imaging 2 to export images but it doesn't do the CFA files which is what is used for the horse animations. If I figure something out I will let you know.

Ah okay, I’d had a look through the DOS game files and the modder tutorials here without any joy, glad I wasn’t asking something obvious.

If anything becomes available, I’d be happy to have a go.

In a later update, do you think it'd be possible to have bandages stack? It's nothing important, but having all of them individually making my inventory cluttered bugs me.

Will look at stacking bandages at some point.

So has anyone looked at the new FG master quest yet?

I am absolutely looking forward to testing out the master quest in live. But with Tedious Travel and my Climate mod it's probably going to take a while :D
