0.7.2 Win x64 - Wagons Are Sellable And Contents Persist [RESOLVED]

Can't tell if this is intended behavior - it makes sense from a gameplay perspective, I suppose, to avoid potential frustration.
Well, I sold my wagon, which contained some items. I then went to another store and bought a wagon from there. The new wagon had the items that were in my old wagon. The items weren't transferred to my inventory in between.
All I turned up from a forum search was this thread:

Which seems to imply that wagons aren't supposed to be sellable. But that was a year ago, maybe I missed something later.
