[RESOLVED 0.10.19] 0.10.17 - Should feet defence be -3 without shoes?

Both are bugs right? +3 and -3. Shoes should not affect feet defense at all of what i understand.

Edit: Thanks for testing this out, it makes me feel a bit better that it's just not me who has this issue.
Edit2: In my game every race and gender has this issue. New characters and old characters.

True. Unless the devs added a feature of +3 armor from shoes or something, then it may be just bugging out. This is just an assumption and will wait for a developer to confirm this.

The thing is i am starting to think that the +3 might be a feature, like i edited in my other post that i booted up old classic Daggerfall and it has the same "problem"...unless DFU does something to classic Daggerfall files as well? I don't exactly know how DFU works and where all the files are,etc.

I'm pretty sure DFU jumps/reads directly off the original Daggerfall files and then DFU engine just overrides parts/aspects of the files in order to make changes, enhancements, fixes, etc. DFU doesn't change the original Daggerfall files at all. So if this is simply a bug that's transferring into DFU from the original files then the devs will need to figure a way to override them to fix this.

The -3 is an elusive bug that hasnt been found yet so its not fixed either. Hazelnut told you that before.

Its possible the +3 for shoes is related to that, likely even but I suggest you accept it for what it is now instead of obsessing over it.

I doubt I can find it / fix it when Hazelnut couldnt yet but Ill see if i can find the cause.

Thanks for trying, about being obsessed...well that is easier said than done. I just cannot play with bugged character...i just can't. Call it a mental illness or whatever. I just rather wait and see if it somehow get fixed...or try to create characters that don't use shoes...which for most people might be easy, but for me it's not, about 95% of my characters use shoes.

Edit: At least i can still use sandals...which for some reason are not affected, except by the -3 bug.

Not judging/arguing here - I understand the feeling of not liking "bugged out" characters. It drives me insane at times. In original Daggerfall bugged characters was all I knew. Pretty much every character I played ended up having some sort of bug, like a reputation hit for no reason, getting kicked out of guilds for no reason, character stats changing out of nowhere, the many famous random bugged quests that were un-finishable, and the dreaded corrupted save files, etc etc etc

But fortunately now we have DFUnity and awesome developers to help make Daggerfall what it should have been. Very few games get this kind of treatment. It's now just a big waiting game for all the issues to get ironed out before the big 1.0 release. Even then no one is guaranteed a perfect, bug free game. Daggerfall is a big f-ing mess!

I dont consider you mentally ill and have my own obsessions about other things but please try to remind yourself from time to time that this is just a game and meant to be enjoyed so try to work around it for the time being. When we find this bug we shall ceremoniously squash it praising Julianos

Haha, yes indeed we shall. Julianos be praised the day the dreaded shoe bug is fixed. . Indeed it is just a game, but for me it's the only past time i got. I literally don't do anything else. Being mentally ill is kind of what i am...i say this just once, it might explain my uhh...obsessions and sense of urgency...really stretching my English here. You know those people who are practically locked away in their apartments due to being scared of outside world? I am kind of like that, i am not the most severe case, but i rarely leave my house...and for a moment Daggerfall really is all i have, so i might even seem a bit desperate at times when dealing with bugs. So, forgive me that(people here in general), i mean no harm by it. Also, i can just start planning characters that actually wear armor and just patiently wait if this problem gets fixed, also knowing that i am not the only one affected by this(+3 bug) really made me feel better actually.

Understood, it takes courage to post something this personal on a public forum and I can only respect you more than I already did because of it. No need to ask for forgiveness either, you have done no wrong and when people find you 'difficult' for lack of a better word, they are free to ignore you, if they dont thats on them, not you.
