Mage guild item rewards

Isn't it odd that the mage guild will some times give you an unidentified item as a reward, it is like hey here you go could summon a Daedra Lord or buff your spriggan who knows but go risk your neck in this deep dark dungeon to earn it. I also like how they give components to potions that you can't use in their guild.
