Can I compile my own build?

I want to edit some scripts in the base game, can I do so and compile the build?
If so, what do I need to do?

I hope this video is still somewhat relevant. You'll need Unity 2018.2.21f1 those days though:

So I know I can play it in unity. Can I somehow package it like the Live Build?

If you build the project, the content of the "build" subdirectory will look exactly like a live build...
