Those poor level < 1 characters. They die so easily that none exist.
Previous experience tells me it's very easy to misunderstand the tone, intent, or meaning of what I've posted. If you have questions, ask.

Re: Is Disease still too weak?
There was a bug where enemy infighting could inflict player with disease/poison based on two enemies fighting each other. The bug in this case used the combating enemy levels for checks but would incorrectly pass ailment on to player entity. This is how you would have been able to contract a disease when just running out of the starting dungeon.
This bug was corrected in August, and the disease effect itself received some hardening to prevent it activating on a level 1 player target. The related changes are below.

Re: Is Disease still too weak?
While I don't really have any feelings about lvl1s being diseased (I feel it's a nice "Welcome to Daggerfall!" ) I think that infighting bug had a nice side effect in that you could just get a disease without having to be hit by a particular enemy.
Sometimes you just get sick. Maybe you ate something, maybe you stood too close to someone, maybe you slept at the wrong inn, maybe you crawld down in a dungeon that was basically a sewer?
