"Pure Mage" stream

TalonHatesNames doing a "Pure Mage" character class stream... No use of weapons, skills are schools of magicka and languages.

Conduct:

Current Daggerfall Character Conduct: May not use any weapons or hand-to-hand in combat.(May use hand-to-hand to break down doors). Must join and reach max rank in the mages guild. May not join any other faction except the Temple of Julianos.(Need not reach max rank in the Temple). Must complete the Hermaeus Mora daedric quest.

Interestingly, after running out of Privateer's Hold to Gophway Garden, he couldn't join the Mages Guild (!?)

I could reproduce the issue. He used 0.10.15, I used 0.10.17.
My reputations are all over the place. My reputation with the Mages Guild is at 100, and I can't join them.

Same with 0.10.14 (and 0.8.6), so it doesn't seem to be a regression of "rep -100 fix"... Maybe not a regression at all

However the starting reputations are more sane?

So there may be a 3rd issue, unless I misunderstood what editing reputations does

Okay, the -2 with the Mages Guild comes from worshiping Julianos. The two can't stand each other, makes sense.

So now I still don't understand what editing reputation does, and I don't understand how I got those crazy reputations at some point...

Wait, did you start the game with all those +100 reps after character creation? That definitely isn't right. The -2 makes sense, it's within a normal range for starting reps based on other affiliations.

Editing rep should work. Would need to step through evaluation for membership code to see why being rejected in this case.

It would be great to have feedback from Numidium (class questions) about the +100 and Hazelnut (guilds) if they have time to take a look.

My biography parser has a command for modifying faction rep so that could be failing. I'll look into it.

I debugged my parser with the same biography answers and I didn't find any problems. The save file I created after leaving Privateer's Hold had Mages Guild rep -2 as expected. Not sure how Pango ended up with 100 rep in his save. I manually changed the rep in my save to 100 and was able to join.

And what about the "Reputation with Commoners, Scholars,... , Underworld", how does it affect the game?
