There's no option in-game (like classic) but you can edit the following value in the SaveData.txt to one of the following:

Code: Select all

"reflexes": "VeryHigh",
"reflexes": "High",
"reflexes": "Average",
"reflexes": "Low",
"reflexes": "VeryLow",
If you're on Windows, you can click on the SAVE# to the top-right of screenshot in save/load UI to directly open the save folder for that save. Then search for "reflexes" and it should be first hit in the data.

I somehow think this should be included in options...
Its quite standard nowadays u can change things like this on fly.
And this is a setting which would be nice to experiment with, also many ppl have no idea what it really is, so they might set this one thing bad, and than need to create a new character from scratch to change it laters..

It might be considered a QoL option.

But its not vanilla, true that..

But that's a setting tied to the character, not to DFU; So what's missing more generally is a screen to access such settings in game (along with the already planned 2nd screen of keyboard shortcuts)

changing monster reflexes after character creation is basically cheating since it affects character attributes

Only thing I know about the Reflexes is what it says about it in the game and the manuals. The slower the Reflexes Setting, the Slower you will Level Up.

Basically, the lower the Reflexes setting you choose the slower the enemy (and perhaps your character) attack and fight. So it might effect the Speed for enemies, and perhaps for your own character as well, though it doesn't mention your character in what it says.

The end result is that Low Reflexes gives you more time to plan and react, the balancing negative is that YOU PROGRESS LESS QUICKLY IN LEVELING UP (PER WHAT THE GAME AND MANUAL SAY). It doesn't explain how this is done, I'm presuming it adjusts the Leveling Multiplier bar that is in the Character Creation sheet.

However, there are some hidden things in this game. Like, your dialog questions do not show up on the Character Sheet until after you actually spawn in the game. Then you will see your Skills have been modified by those answers to those questions.

QUESTION:

Do we know if adjusting the value in those settings after game start actually changes the Reflex Speed and the Leveling Speed in the game, or are we just presuming it does?

Interkarma gave a great tip about the Save though:

"If you're on Windows, you can click on the SAVE# to the top-right of screenshot in save/load UI to directly open the save folder for that save. Then search for "reflexes" and it should be first hit in the data."

Wow, that is very convenient of the interface, great QoL there.
