unable to load games

halo everyone!

just wondering if anyone is having a similar problem - i am no longer able to load games, although i didn't change anything from last week (i was able to load it last week). was using version 11.7 then, and tried tonight and wouldn't load. downloaded the new patch 12.1 and no difference.

i find it a bit weird as i've not had this problem before. maybe need to reinstall the whole thing?

First of all, what do you mean by being unable to load games? That you click Load Game and the load game menu does not appear? Or does it appear and you can't select and load games here? Or do you manage to load but you never get ingame?

Also: I see you describe this as a patch. Make sure you did not just copy the new build over the old build. That is asking for problems. A new build should have a new folder.

When I can't load a game, there's something wrong with my mods. Your player log should be able to say something about it. You can find your player log with these instructions: viewtopic.php?f=5&t=2360&p=27552#p27552

If you can post it somewhere for reading, maybe it'll give useful information.

1. the screen appears. if i click on load, nothing happens. it doesn't even try to load, it just sits there, can scroll down. clicking doesn't seem to have any effect.

2. oh i see. i've never installed it separately, from the earlier builds - i've just been putting them one over the other since earlier this year. haha.
funny enough it was working last week, and then suddenly stopped working. hmm.

I would try setting up game fresh using recommended DaggerfallGameFiles method and deleting your settings.ini. Don't install any mods to start with, just create a clean setup and try again.

This also sounds a bit like a recent problem caused by Loading Screen mod not updated to a compatible version. When you do put back mods, also check you've updated them to be compatible with your DFU release.

If you still have issues with a clean build and no mods, please provide a zip of your save file so we can test for other issues that might prevent loading. Cheers!

i don't use the loading screen mod. what i find funny was that it worked last week and i didn't add anything new since.
i suspect one of the mods is acting up but there's so many it's hard to tell.
i'll try what you suggested!

after doing all the things mentioned above.. it seemed the reason it didn't work was that the 'potions of iliac bay' mod had appeared twice and it confused the program. i don't even know how two of the same mod could exist. i didn't even notice it when trying to disable mods to try to get it to work..

Did you copy only the dfmod for your operating system? The archive contains dfmods for the 3 supported systems, so that could be the reason

I screwed up once when updating my a mod, where it became a "new" mod. Think the file name changed slightly, so windows did not ask to overwrite the earlier version.

So something like that might have happened between two versions with that mod.
