These are the ones I like, play or played myself:

- Baldur's Gate 1 & 2
- Planescape Torment
- Arcanum
- Divine Divinity
- Diablo 2
- Master of Magic
- Arx Fatalis
- Starcraft Bloodwar
- (Open)TTD

From those, the Baldur's Gates and Diablo 2 are the ones I still play the most! (Modded ofc.)

As for this:
- Gods (remake)
Nice! I didn't knew there was a remake of that game! I used to play it loooong loong ago and then lost track of it, and never even heard it mentioned! I remember it was fun :)

I was hooked on Wizardry 7: Crusaders of the Dark Savant decades ago, and played it partway through again recently. Bought my current version off GOG. They pushed the Gold Edition at the time, but allowed purchasers to download the DOS version. They likely still do. The DOS version is better.

Off the top of my head some of my favorites from 10-35 years ago in rough chronological order:

Quazatron
Deathchase
Elite
Millenium 2.2
Populous
Lemmings
Speedball 2
Dungeon Master
Doom
System Shock 2
Fallout 1
Half Life
Diablo 2
Morrowind
Baldurs Gate 2
Deus Ex
Gothic 3
Dwarf Fortress (had to swear off it due to addiction :))
Stalker (all 3)
TF2
Minecraft

I probably forgot a lot... been gaming for 35 years since I first pestered my dad to get a Sinclair ZX spectrum in the eighties.

Old games I know is still quality:

Prince Of Persia (Original 1989 version. This game is still impressive today.)
Daggerfall (come on, someone had to say it! :D)

Old games that were good, but who knows?:

Betrayal At Krondor (My original rpg love, and it forced me to learn to read pages of english :D)
Alone In The Dark (WAY before Resident Evil, there was Alone In The Dark)
Sim City 2000 (still the best Sim City)
Blue Shadow (aka "Shadow Of The Ninja" for NES. I played this soooo much.)

Nice lists and comments:)

As Ive expected Ive already played big majority of that, except the really old ones Hazelnut mentioned - but the Deathchase really reminded me the other game Ive played on ZX, it was basically the same..

I will post some of the ZX games I loved / some early DOS PC games

ZX:

Spyhunter
Kokotoni
Moon Alert
Saboteur
Double dragon 3 (multiplayer)
Knight lore
Decathlon

PC Dos/early:

Metal mutant
Another world (remake - 20th aniversary)
Budokan (still looks awesome)
Eye of the beholder 1 + 2 & Lands of Lore 1
Gobliins
Mortal Kombat 1 + 2

Thanks for a reminder of Prince of persia... WHAT A GAME!!! Loved both parts. 2nd had beautiful graphics :geek: My mom bought it for me for christmass. It costed a equivalent of 110 USD in my country.. (I know because I had to buy it personally, but she went with me to the shop ;) )

It had this nice box (the one on the left) - not my photo, lost the box :X
Spoiler!

Have you ever saw/played Valkyrie Profiles series? Specifically, Valkyrie Profiles 2: Silmeria? Is not a really old game (2006) but few people seem to know it... IMO is one of the few games I'd say up front I consider master works from an artistic standpoint (and I mean, art direction, sound design, graphics, etc. all IMO, ofc.) and I'm not even a fan of JRPGs myself. In comparison, the original Valkyrie Profiles Lenneth (first game in the series) is not as good as the 2, IMHO.

Problem is, it's really hard to get these days... it's an old PS2 game that hasn't been ported to modern consoles and can't be bought from PSN (I think...) you can maybe find copies of it on ebay, perhaps... or from buying someone's old used Playstation 2 hardware and games, pehaps?

Thing is, it's emulable and runs really well on PCs these days... I was fortunate to get a copy from a friend that sent it to me from the states, and I was able to play it and enjoy it. If you want to check some footage/gameplay I can recommend this LP by Kaitanz29, which IMO is one of the best LPs available on Youtube, period.

EDIT: missing word

Older series i might be missing the most is Dungeon Siege series. God i love those games...except 3, 3 is poop, but 3 was made by Obsidian so no surprises there(i hate Obsidian). Also Shadow Hearts series is that i miss greatly and Yuri Volte Hyuga is my favorite video game character of all time. The Legend of Dragoon remake/sequel would be awesome as well.
Edit: I also miss Hellgate:London. Check out Lost London mod for it(i created it) if you are interested.

Ooooh nice, was about to say the same, and indeed, that game has helped me a lot with improving my English. I heard rumours a year or two ago about Neal Hallford working on a remastered version, I wonder if anything came of that. Probably nothing.
However, there's also some savant currently working on a BAK-inspired original IP called Call of Saregnar (I guess it could arguably be called a rip-off, looking at the similarities of the featured game mechanics):

Also, Terminator Future Shock, anyone? Another flawed, inefficient gem full of bafflingly stupid design choices that nevertheless performed small miracles for its time, lovingly made by Bethesda.

A lot of my favourites already mentioned here. I'll add a few more of my old-timey home computer faves:
  • Thief: The Dark Project, Thief: The Metal Age.
  • Mars Saga
  • Early Lucasarts games like Maniac Mansion, Zac McKracken, Day of the Tentacle, Full Throttle, et al.
  • Ultima Underworld: The Stygian Abyss, Ultima Underworld: Labyrinth of Worlds
  • Dark Sun series
  • Ravenloft: Stone Prophet
  • SSI Gold Box series - Pool of Radiance, Curse of the Azure Bonds, et al.
I'll also add some arcade games I love - not too many though or this list will be hundreds of items long. Some of these are great 4-player party games to have on while friends are over.
  • Ghosts & Goblins / Ghouls & Ghosts
  • Anything Metal Slug / SNK
  • Sunset Riders
  • Alien Syndrome
  • Saint Dragon
  • Altered Beast
  • Cadillacs and Dinosaurs
  • Golden Axe series
  • Michael Jackon's Moonwalker
  • Dragon's Lair
  • 1942
  • 99/Repulse
  • Gorf
  • R-Type
  • Gauntlet
  • Rampage
  • Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
  • Ghost Muncher (a bootleg I remember fondly as I'd play it with my mum when I was about 5 at some country-town cafe).
Forcing myself to stop.
