Yes, number of deaths is the ONLY solid number we have. If the country has 200 dead and report 1000 infected, the thing you KNOW is they do not test. Thats it. There are already models which will tell you, how many ppl are ill in a population which has the "XXX" reported deaths.

The number of dead ppl is dictated by various circumstances of the country - is their medical system working or already colapsed? - is the 1st one. Than you have a demography etc

Yes, its about finding the equilibrium as always - how long will ppl be in restrictive quarantine VS when you open up the economy.

Thing is - we have ONE attempt here.

Open the economy too early - TOTAL DISASTER - you will be back at the point we were at month back - just will already decimated economy > thats just the end of the story of that country.

Open too late - Economy will not recover - total disaster.

So we need to find the equilibrium here... open the economy SLOWLY and monitor how many new cases we get etc.

One thing is sure - we. are. effed.

The economic impact will be uncomparable to 2007 crysis (I say 2007 because it STARTED in 2007, but ppl realized the consequences in 2008/9)

In 20 DAYS we have the same drop as in 3 MONTHS in 2007. So - to make another prediction - 2021 will be the year the economic impact will be fully understoor, in effect and ppl will realize. This will be big :/ Economy has a "lag" and the full impact is yet to be seen... if 2008 was bad, I wonder how to call this..

And at the end of the day... same story as always... capitalism for poor, socialism for the rich. The rich get bailouts and get richer, the poor get nada and get even more poor.

We're talking at the lastest 1800's documentation. :geek:
And yet, knowing how useful it is, we don't seem to do it any more...

Which is especially irritating now that we know we can just transfer the plasma instead of the blood, which removes the whole blood-type mismatch problem while still transferring immunity factors.

That is true and interestingly I have not heard about this idea being utilized anywhere. I think it would be a valid path to research and perform clinical tests validating/invalidating the possible results.

As far as a vaccine everything I have found to read just indicates that an over all vaccine won't be possible due to an aspect that researches have termed as slippery. This mean they have seen COVID-19 aspects change 3-4 times since they have been evaluating it. Which indicates that like influenza they won't be able to nail down a vaccine that will cover every possible aspect the virus might display.

At the moment there is no real evidence that those who have recovered possess immunity to the current virus. And since there is a healthy percentage of asymptomatic patiients, the odds are a bit too high that a plasma transfer would just dump more virus into an already compromised system. For that matter, they haven't been able to designate a 'recovery' point due to the asymptomatic nature of some people. The standard 3 days no symptoms simply doesn't apply to this virus.

also transferring blood 'plasma' between people doesn't create a vaccine which would be better for the general public.
And there have been people testing blood transfers with covid. It's just not a practical solution for the general public abroad.
Plus just like these 'new' medicines it needs to be vetted.

Could you link articles you referenced please! I think this is the most current one I have been able to find: https://www.europeanpharmaceuticalrevie ... lot-study/

The thing is it was only 10 patients that had compromised immune systems, so a small sample size involving a unique set of circumstances. So far all the articles have similar themes so if you can point to one with a large sample size of what most consider a representative of the the general population I would be interested in reading it.

I never said it was a government doing it or a large test size.
I kind of want to say something because you went to this presumption but it may come off as rude.

There are a lot of small tests for a slew of medical related things that happen every single day.
It's just this is a covid thread and the topic of blood transfer came up. So I commented on it.

edit: probably a better thing to look into at the moment is hydroxychloroquine side effects. As it was pushed through and tested on a much larger pool of patients.

"And there have been people testing blood transfers with covid."-Baler

You act like I had a problem that you commented on this thread in regards to plasma/blood transfusion which is odd as I want to have a discussion with as many people as possible.

You made a reference to people testing something, in general and the only way you would know about it is if these people publish their findings. I would be interested to see what the article you are referencing says, I made no presumption of who did what testing. The article I posted was based of a government backed study which does negate anything you referenced or presumed that the study mentioned by me makes what your talking about any less valid.

Your quote is factual I did say people have been testing blood transfers in relation to covid. :ugeek:

I don't have an atricle I fabricated it out of thin air to control your mind with my (insert poltical party) mentality so I could devalue you believes in order to establish a reshieme of complete idocracy.

All I said was people been testing blood transfers in relation to covid

How do any of you feel about the medicine hydroxychloroquine :?:
