After playing Frontier some more, I can only cry for what happened to the devs. Its so sad.

This mod is epic, the amount of work poured into it is epic, the quality of it is epic.

Than ONE person of the development team is found to not behave good in his personal life and all hell breaks loose. This is incredible. Just astounding. Than two specific parts of a game quests are found to be "not correct" and that was the green light for a frontal attack of some ppl. That was really a toxic outpour.

Poor devs. After 7 years of work, to get this, is IMO the worse release reaction ever... and this for ppl who did it in their free time without a salary. Oh my...

In my opinion, the devs should have just totally ignored the loud minority, totally ignore personal life problems of that one dev (they are NOT responsible for what the other ppl from team do in their personal life! - I doubt they even knew each other personally, same as we dont here) - should have just buckled up, withstand the toxic storm and after month it would be good.

But they are I guess not skilled in this kind of stuff, so they tried to appease the loud mouths and at the end of it, devs stood there dirty, the mod butchered and the toxic cloud moved on elsewhere. Wow

I have zero sympathy for the devs. Sickening content, pedophile developer(who by the way had nothing to do with the sick content i might add), calling fans who wants to join Enclave Trump Supporters and lot more. So in a nutshell they spend 7 years to make a technically marvelous turd. Poor quests, hilariously bad writing, shitty story, utterly lorebreaking, extremely buggy, baffling fetishes rubbed in your face and loads of political propaganda. Good riddance if you ask me.

I just have one question for the people who are against this mod: How do you feel about Fallout 1 and 2?

And also a question: how long you actually played it compared to how long you have read about it :D
But yea, good question as well Burt ;)

Thought I’d mention, a few days ago I downloaded the Fallout Frontier mod and have played a few hours of it. So far I’m enjoying the mod, there is a lot to take in with something of this magnitude. I will mention that the writing is a bit weird in places. I’ll see how it goes as I continue my adventures. My main concerns were about the potential Pedophilic content, and that has apparently been removed.

I’ve played both Fallout 1 and 2 quite some years ago. Both have excellent writing, complex quests and gameplay, which IMO far surpasses the later Fallout games. So comparing the Frontier mod to the original Fallout games is not exactly fair. But I understand the comparison if we are strictly talking about Prostitution, Sex Slavery and Sexual Violence. Yes, Fallout 1 and 2 had all that, and a fair amount of it, but so did plenty of other games at that time.

Again, my concern was about there potentially involving children (under 18) being sexualized somewhere in the mod. Though the posts that I’ve read about it may have been over-exaggerated, it seemed this was the case to a certain extent till the mod authors supposedly removed that content. At this point I’m satisfied with the current state of the mod and will be playing through it the best I can and see if Frontier truly lives up to all the hype, both positive and negative.

Seferoth, I’m not here to justify some of this mods faults. But you have mentioned essentially almost every issue there ever was in literature, movies, TV, games, and mods (aside from pedophilic content, which is almost nonexistent in mainstream media). Stories and symbolism that get too political/religious, sometimes poor writing or writing that some people can’t connect with, sequels or remakes that change too much of the original story, game mods that completely break the lore (almost every game mod in existence), and some things being oversexualized. These are issues in almost everything. So how do you even sit down to watch TV or read a book or play a game without constantly complaining and wishing all the creators poor health? - Honest question.

FYI: There are many mods for Fallout 4, Skyrim, Doom, etc. that all allow sex with Animals and Monsters. What I’ve seen the Frontier mod is extremely mild compared to those mods. Also, Daggerfall has some pretty “sickening” content in it, if you are a Christian ;)

Fallout 1 and 2 also let you kill children and you can get the Childkiller-perk: https://fallout.fandom.com/wiki/Childkiller

I'm not comparing the mod to the earlier games nor am I attacking you personally, I just wonder how many people are aware that the first two games allowed you to do that. I suppose it's an inconvenient truth because by their logic, I don't think they should be enjoying the later games when you look at the roots

In no way did I think you were attacking me personally or at all! Sorry if my response seemed like that, and I hope you don't think I was attacking you, that was not my intention.

But yeah, it's been some years since I played and I forgot about the "Childkiller" thing. I agree that's it's hypocritical to be outraged by a few things in the Frontier mod, if they are truly aware of the content in the first two games and/or have played them. But IMO don't think that they shouldn't enjoy the later games, which were much more mild with the "controversial" stuff. I'm guessing most people who are genuinely outraged or concerned of the Frontier mod have only played Fallout 3, New Vegas and 4 which don't have the sexual violence or violence against children, etc. and that's all they know. But who knows.

No, it didn't come across as such but since I quoted your reply, I felt the need to point that out.

I bet you're right about most of the outraged crowd being unaware of the first two games but seeing how they react to this mod, I have to wonder how they can justify playing the games once they learn about this.

You can sell Billy (the fridge kid) to Bullet, the Gunner and looking at the wiki, they're not a friendly bunch:

The Gunners are a ruthless mercenary organization that operates in the Commonwealth and Nuka-World in 2287. The Gunners are most known for their no prisoners mindset and have been known to wipe out entire settlements, like common raiders, but are better organized and equipped.

This is apparently OK and not child abuse or anything? I'm just playing Devil's Advocate here because I'm not against any of this but I am against the double standards and hypocrisy that the people who get offended by this mod display :)

Damn, I didn’t even know you could do that in Fallout 4, or perhaps forgot. Hmm, it’s messed up for sure, but it seems a little vague don’t you think? And not so in-your-face like things are in Fallout 1 and 2. I mean, you don’t really know what’s going to happen to the kid in the end, do you? Maybe I’m wrong. Still, the later fallout games are pretty tame in comparison. At this point I think it’s safe to say that the Frontier mod doesn’t go anywhere beyond what other mods and games have already gone in terms of their portrayal of violence and sex.

This is just a theory, but overall I think the majority of outraged people are those who just want to jump on the Hate-Train or they get caught up in all the drama, then say a bunch of stupid shit online without thinking through anything at all. Most the other people with genuine concerns are simply misinformed or unaware about the previous titles and their content, or maybe they actually take issue with the first Fallout titles. I don’t know.

My concerns were really strictly focused on one potential issue, and that issue may have been overexaggerated, but the devs ended up removing that content anyway.

I don’t know how you feel about this Burt, IMO I’m glad that the devs fixed some of those issues in their mod, but I think it’s a shame that they removed all content that was associated with that one dev, just to clear any controversy over the mod. I don’t think the overall mod should suffer for one person’s poor behavior, particularly when that behavior was not expressed in the mod itself at all. That’s kind of sad to me.

You don't sell a kid if you have his best interests at heart unless I'm mistaken :D I don't mind it being in the game and none of the Frontier's content needed to be cut out either as I can tell from what I've heard / read about it.

And unless someone tells me otherwise, as far as I know, all that dev posted on his IG was MLP sex stuff which does not equal child porn in my book, it's cartoon ponies, how does that hurt anyone exactly? The Aristocrats joke https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Aristocrats is more offensive than that, depending on who tells it and I'll happily laugh at that.

The internet used to be a place of freedom for all but nowadays it's just getting more and more suffocating if you don't think the 'right' way and say the 'correct' things.
