Re: [MOD] Cleaned SoundClips

Ok, as I suspected it's too difficult to rearrange pieces of the original and get a good result.
Instead I started from a free sound clip then tried to match the original sound.

A portion of the original sound was looped, and equalized to match the volume and frequencies of the rain loop of classic Daggerfall (except for the missing high frequencies)"

Yeah, surgical operations on audio tracks aren't for the faint of heart, and can be real tricky to get right.

Anyway, the new rain sound does the job. Thank goodness for creative commons!!!

Indeed! I updated the pack with the new rain effect.
There's probably other interesting stuff on freesound; I just noticed crowd sounds, that could be used to replace the poorly recorded ones from Daggerfall (I wonder if that's why they didn't used those much in the end, or if it just didn't fit well in the sound design they wanted).
Daggerfall thunder sounds are not exceptional, I'd like more natural sounding ones (which requires higher quality recording). However replacements would have to roughly match the 3 different sounds, from close thunder to distant rumbling, without rain sound...
I'm not sure I'll find daedra sounds though ;)

I made some experiments with thunder sounds, but that's hard!
I'm not sure this material is good enough for a new release...
Anyway, feel free to try, comment or participate :)
Magic formula for testing is "set_weather 5" in console.

StormLightningThunderFast.wav matches the rhythm of the original Daggerfall sound, but it feels a bit off, so I also provided a StormLightningThunder.wav that's a bit slower (closer to the original natural sound, but speed up already)...
StormLightningShort.wav was created using "Thunder Claps Combination" by jzielke011
https://freesound.org/people/jzielke011/sounds/338092/
under license Creative Commons BY 3.0
Sound was converted to mono, thunder clap was extracted and a fadeout
added at the end.

StormLightningThunder.wav and StormLightningThunderFast.wav were
created using "Thunder close" by hantorio
https://freesound.org/people/hantorio/sounds/121945/
under license Creative Commons BY 3.0
Sound was converted to mono, thunder clap was extracted, speed and
tempo were modified, and muted echo of the whole sound layered on top
to match classic Daggerfall sound as well as I could.

StormThunderRoll.wav was created using "NM-Mejor-Lado-Thunder-01.wav" by
aaronstar
https://freesound.org/people/aaronstar/sounds/194849/
under license Creative Commons BY 3.0
Sound was converted to mono, thunder rumble was extracted, and
equalized to match match classic Daggerfall sound as well as I could.

Good stuff dude, it's more immersive, and the Raindrop sound clear and clean, no fuzziness..

So if I change Arenafootstep 1, 2 , and 3, those are the character footsteps right ?

They are too quiet for me...

Okay your sound Clips are not playing when I load game and it's raining.

So when I turn off asset injection the rain plays, but it's the default rain.

To get your rain to play I have to have asset injection on, and then reload the game, after loading the first time.

So I don't know, I don't think it's the sound Clips, I think it's asset injection.
