[Github #1454] Fog turns black after entering and exiting a building [RESOLVED]
Pretty much as it says in the title. I've updated to the most recent DFU build and this was an issue in the previous one as well.

There is some ambient light stuff you can play with in advanced>enhancements that might solve the issue.

Nothing for the exterior world space though.
I tried the settings that were there, and no change. Fog weather still turns black after entering and exiting any building.

I have not seen that, if you could post the save game and some system specs in the Help and Support forum the developers might be able to give you some guidance. I would think any information of the graphic card you are using would be helpful.

I reproduce it. Steps:
console "set_weather 3"
Enter a tavern, then exit it very quickly.
I'll move this to Help and Support.

Re: Fog turns black after entering and exiting a building
Interior fog colour is black (so you don't see what looks like sky through any gaps in the geometry, of which DF has plenty), and exterior fog colour is coloured to the horizon to simulate atmosphere. Pea-soup fog should generally be grey, but I notice this often has the wrong colour as well.
From what I can see, the colours are reliably being set as player changes context from interior to exterior. Definitely needs a fix.

Re: Fog turns black after entering and exiting a building
Fog has looked like one of those things that should be tweaked for a while now. One of the problems I have noticed is that fog does not follow the ambient lighting very well. This is very true in rainy overcast days where fog forms a white band on the horizon (that under those conditions should be quite dark). At night fog actually makes distant mountains brighter in fact the more distant the brighter they become.Interkarma wrote: ↑Fri Aug 02, 2019 2:15 am Interior fog colour is black (so you don't see what looks like sky through any gaps in the geometry, of which DF has plenty), and exterior fog colour is coloured to the horizon to simulate atmosphere. It occurs to me that game engines don't make fog that works correctly, reflecting the ambient light, because games do not present as a rule realistic view distances.
