You have pacified lich

Post by Ommamar »

What exactly is the roll for etiquette? I had a level ten build with 87 personality (buffed by equipment) pacify a lich outside a certain quest givers door which was handy as hell but it didn't seem reasonable. One that I could pacify a undead lich with etiquette; two that a level ten could pacify a level 20 lich or Vampire Ancient which also happened.

Yeah, pacification rates seem to be kind of high. It's always weird that I pacify a guard with like 5% Etiquette and 40 Personality. I feel like that should only be possible - if at all - with very high Personality AND Etiquette.

I agree DFIronman it does seem to work a lot more in DFU, I can't remember a time in classic where it pacified any thing. I thought it was just useful in a minimum way when interacting in conversation with royals. I definitely don't think it should be used on vampires and liches as being in an undead state would put you beyond niceties.

If you have the Archaeologist guild installed, it alters pacification rates:
Language skill checks changed so high language skills give a much better pacification chance.

I do have that installed, but my language skills are trash. The formula may need to be adjusted?

Even before I had this mod installed I noticed an increase rate in etiquette/streetwise (this one seems to happen less) occurring. As I stated it never happened for me in classic, even on a build I placed in one of the chosen skills at creation. Now even those builds I didn't include it in the chosen skills which is the majority have it happen. There is no doubt the Archaeologist mod plays a role still seem a powerful thing to pacify a lich with an untrained level 10 character.

I think it's simply appearing this way because DFU tells you when it happens, the default formula is the same as classic as far as we've been able to tell. Even with trash skills there's still a very small chance.
See my mod code for examples of how to change various aspects of DFU: https://github.com/ajrb/dfunity-mods

Yeah, I just feel like I always pacify at least one thing when there are enemies around, even with garbage skills. You may be right that it's a placebo effect due to getting the message. I know if I were playing Classic that I wouldn't know if I pacified "Thief" in Privateer's Hold when he's nowhere near me. I guess, all this time I've been running around the dungeon, shouting, "Oi, don't kill me, mate!" in Streetwise and didn't even know it.
