"Texture array creator" feature in Daggerfall tools

Post by King of Worms »

There is this new feature and I wasnt able to find any documentation for it.

I suppose its for terrain textures. Id like to use it, but not sure how exactly

Any directions are welcomed, thank you!

Well I had a info from Lacus on this and I made it work (its already in DREAM 2020 r2)
I still have a feeling it helped the loading times quite a bit, more than was expected. But I did not make any measurements and I dont plan to do so.
If you want to use it, select all textures for an archive and click "Add from selection"; then build with name "archive-TexArray". The result is a .asset file, which is actually a big texture containing all source textures. Include this file in your mod (without the source textures) and you're done.
So u make sure all textures in the archive have same resolution. And than you select ONE archive (example: all 56 textures of the 002 desert terrain) and make a array from it. Than you continue with the rest of the archives. When done, u pack it all in a dfmod and it just works.

If anyone wants to do that and needs help, let me know.
