I just saw a YT video of DFU with the D.R.E.A.M. mod, and it made me want to play again.
So I went to update Unity, and it says to download the version of DF on Steam.
But I have the game already, from the original CD.
Cheers!
Do I have to use the Steam version of Daggerfall?

I think what you read was the latest post on the page which was what do do if you want to use the Steam version. That may confused some people as it's at the top of the page.
It's recommended to use the DaggerfallGameFiles download, though you can just copy from your CD - Using CD Distribution / Anthology / Bethesda Download

On the other hand, taking files off the CD is both cumbersome (requires extra steps), and a sure way to get the a buggy version of the game.
The recommended (and supported) way is to start from DaggerfallGameFiles.zip for a reason.

Cheers,
It said on the Daggerfall Workshop page https://www.dfworkshop.net/# Step 1, Install Daggerfall with Steam.
But I've used the CDs and the patch since the game first came out, and later with DOSBox and now with Unity, and it seems to work fine when it's set up.
Thanks for the replies!

Re: Do I have to use the Steam version of Daggerfall?
The recommended way to setup Daggerfall Unity for years now is the DaggerfallGameFiles method. This process is simple, crossplatform, and the provided game files are fully patched and curated for best compatibility with DFU.
The dfworkshop.net site is a personal devblog where I journal my work on Daggerfall tools. I also cover technical and help topics on this blog related to DFU. The most recent posts at time of writing are help articles posted when Daggerfall was released on Steam, provided for anyone trying to setup DFU using Steam as a starting point at that time or in the future.
I'll close this one as answered.
