[1.1.1] staff enchantment points wrong? [WORKING AS INTENDED]
according to uesp, staves have higher enchantment points than any other types of weapons. however dfu item templates currently sets the base value to 700, which is the same as claymore/dai-katana. if uesp is correct, this value should be 1500. but maybe dfu devs found the "true" value in the original game?

Re: [1.1.1] staff enchantment points wrong?
Checking with "Mordalis Lonfallew" save, buying a daedric staff from a shop, the enchantment points of the staff seems to be 2100:
GetWeaponEnchantmentMultiplier says daedric weapons get +200% enchantment points.
700 plus 200% is 700 x 3 = 2100, so that's consistent with classic.
However what's in template doesn't take into account the staff material,GetWeaponEnchantmentMultiplier says daedric weapons get +200% enchantment points.
700 plus 200% is 700 x 3 = 2100, so that's consistent with classic.

Re: [1.1.1] staff enchantment points wrong?
Bought an elven claymore, it can be enchanted for 875 points
So either the UESP got it wrong for staves, or that changed between versions of Daggerfall (but DFU aligns with the last official release).
Personally I think that change would make staves more interesting (for RP), I don't know if a mod does that already?
which is expected (700 +25% for elven). So either the UESP got it wrong for staves, or that changed between versions of Daggerfall (but DFU aligns with the last official release).

Re: [1.1.1] staff enchantment points wrong?
thank you for the investigation and clarification!
indeed i was considering recreating in daggerfall an old morrowind character of mine, who was a battlemage wielding an overpowered ebony staff. i was disappointed that df's wooden staves were not as good, but they are okay, even without mods. df's enchanting is overpowered in any case.
dfu really has revealed lots of what we didn't know or misunderstood about this ancient game~
