the original images are like that too, so I guess around the letters in the second picture it's like a different shade? Nah, i tried to change it, and nothing happens, still like that

For what it's worth (not much), I tried to reproduce your problem quick on the original IMG extracted from arena2 with
Daggerfall imaging and I coudn't.

Unlikely to be helpful as well, are you saving them in 8 bit? Did you try to use a different paint program\ gimp or
whichever you normally use? Sorry.

Edit: Correction, I was just able to reproduce it, I didn't try to mod TALK03I0.IMG before but changing colors around the letters
gave a similar effect to your screenshot with the tell me about and where is. As unlikely to help as it is also, since you would
probably have noticed something so obvious.
