Hello all,
TLDR: I'm making a rpg-ish hard-scifi dicerolling small-business simulator, and I need as much feedback on the prototype as I can get. You can get it from itch for free, and without an account. I'll be happy about any feedback either on itch or here.

The long story:
It's been quite a while. I was active on these forums a couple of years ago, when I made the "tedious travel" mod for daggerfall unity, that enabled players to travel the world of daggerfall for "real", with an autopilot and time compression. I had to stop maintaining the mod for lack of time after a while. Happily the concept (and as I understand it, some of the code) has been subsumed into the Travel Options mod by hazelnut which is still alive (both the mod *and* Hazelnut, I hope!), which I highly appreciate as it gives me something to brag about every now and then.
This post is kind of about the reason why I had no time to support that mod anymore... It's because I finally decided that I wanted to make at least one complete game in my life. Not a game like daggerfall, though it also goes in an rpg-ish direction. After a couple years of diligent work, I have burnt through an entire concept and threw everything out again because it just didn't work as a game, took the lessons learned, came up with a new concept, and finally got a prototype to a releasable state. That was in January. Now it's 6 months later, and after a first round of gathering feedback and improving things, I'm trying to gather *more* feedback, so I'm looking for more places to show it around to people that might potentially be interested in.
This forum is one of the places that came to mind. It's a bit of a flimsy excuse for making a thread that is clearly just a self-plug. In my feeble defense, the game is perfectly free at this point, so I'm not exactly trying to *sell* you something. In fact, I'm hoping to *buy* something. A little bit of your time to be specific, and some feedback. In return, I offer something that you might find fun and engaging for an hour or two. Depending on your preferences, obviously.
In any case, if any mods think this thread has no business being on this forum, I understand. No hard feelings. It's just reeeeeally hard to get people to play a prototype to gather vital feedback, so I'm taking my chances.
I'm working on the game actively and regularly, but updates depend a bit on how much work a feature needs before it *can* be released, so their not exactly regular. I *do* have a monthly devlog to keep interested people up to date, though. Here's the entry from this month that was posted along with this release:

I'm talking a bit about what I'm working on in the new devlog, as well as about crickets...

How does the dice-rolling mechanic influence gameplay decisions and outcomes, especially in tasks like EVA or managing resources?

Whoa, I had a comment and I didn't notice it! Sorry! I was kinda hunkering down trying to get the next update out!
The dice rolls decide the consequences of your actions. Of pretty much any signifficant action.
It's not all about gambling, though. You have a pre-rolled dicepool to manage, you have a good overview over the probabilities of success, and you often have ways of improving those chances. But bad luck *is* very much part of the game. It is however a part that can mostly be planned for. That you in fact *need* to plan for, if you want to keep playing for any length of time. At the end of the day, it's a resource management/survival game. Just that it's also a small-business sim rather than a robinson crusoe sim.

Re: I'm making a game
It's been a while, but it's finally here: The new major feature changing a lot of the early game, and the first actual progression system. Now you'll have to build your network of business contacts to get good jobs, but maintaining good relations with them will also have other long-term benefits, making some things easier.
Expression is now finally a truly useful attribute. Quite a powerful one, actually, allowig you to build relations with contacts much, much quicker than the stick jockeys that think the business is just about flying spacecraft.
Just don't get cockey. Flying a spacecraft *is* still very much part of the business, and those that don't do it right will find that running out of remass is not economical at all...
download here (no account required), or through your itch app.
