Changing Hosting Providers
Hey All,
Sometime in the next few weeks, I'll be changing hosting providers for dfworkshop.net and interkarma.net. This will result in a day or two downtime as I migrate everything across and for new DNS records to propagate.
I will also use this opportunity to update forums to latest version. They should come back exactly the same, provided all themes remain compatible and secure. These will be reviewed as part of upgrade process.
Otherwise, domain name, content, layout, etc. will all remain the same as now.
I'll pop a reply on this topic a day or two before I get started.
Cheers!

Re: Changing Hosting Providers
I'm kicking off the domain migration on Thursday, Aussie time. This will still be Wednesday for most the rest of world.
I can't say exactly when sites will go down, but expect it to happen sometime between Wednesday and Friday. From there, it will take a couple of days before everything is back online.
I'll repost this on Lysandus' Tomb Discord too. If there are any problems that involve the sites staying down for longer, I'll communicate there.
Cheers!

I've taken all my backups and initiated domain transfer. It could take up to 5 days for the first stage to complete.
Forums and sites will remain online until domain transfer completes, then I can complete moving all sites to new host.

A quick update on this one. Process was held up transferring interkarma.net to new registrar. This should be resolved and is now -hopefully - going ahead in the next 24-48 hours.
All sites on dfworkshop.net and interkarma.net will drop out once this happens. I will work to restore them all as quickly as possible. Forums will be last to come online and they're the most involved.
Cheers!

Just going to say, I find it really funny how professional of a website owner you are. I guess it comes from the fact you grew up with making your own sites being a very common thing and such, but if I was going to have somebody maintain a site for me in this hypothetical situation, you would be my number 1 candidate for sure, lol.

Re: Changing Hosting Providers
Thank you, Magicono! I'm actually taking this one pretty casually compared to my old life in professional services, where no amount of downtime was acceptable. But it costs nothing to keep people up-to-date and try and communicate when things will cutover. Thank you for letting me know you appreciate it.

Re: Changing Hosting Providers
Host migration for all sites is now completed.
Forums have been updated to latest version. I've run through a range of standard tests and everything looks fine for now. If you encounter any new forum problems, please let me know.
Note that forums have been restored to a backup taken on 26th Apr (Australian time) just prior to disabling for maintenance. Hopefully there aren't any posts or replies that slipped in prior to the maintenance period starting, but it's possible. If your post or reply is missing from just before the forum went down for maintenance, then it would not have been included in backup and you will need to recreate it.
Hopefully plain sailing on new host. Cheers!
