LowPoly 3D Winter & Jungle Assets for Daggerfall Unity

Post by Anticipateants »

Hi, first post here, sorry if posting in the wrong place

I played Daggerfall Unity & noticed I would absolutely love 3D assets for some of the more misc unimportant stuff that keep repeating in nature, and also suddenly realized I could do them myself as far as the modeling aspect

I feel the low poly look works real well with Daggerfall, any opinions are appreciated

If these could be inserted into the game and people like them, I could make a lot more... And if people don't like them, I will still love to insert them into the game if possible so I can play with them :p

Thank you

Made another round, this time even more optimized for low config computers to run it smooth...

I think these look GREAT. Get in touch with BadLuckBurt, either here or on the Lysandus' Tomb Discord. He's been working on a low-poly model pack and has the programming chops to get these into the game.

I agree with Cara, these do look great although my attempt is more focused on Daggerfalls ugly 3d models and staying on that level :)

These models would go nice with something like Handpainted Models, they have a similar vibe going on.

@OP, send me a PM here on the forums if you need some help to get them in-game. Its quite easy and requires no code.

In any case, nice work so far!

Agreed, nice work, keep it on :) I guess you are aware of Handpainted models mod https://www.nexusmods.com/daggerfallunity/mods/9

In case you dont plan to remake everything, it would make sense to focus on items which are not covered by that mod. So users can combine those and have as much models covered as possible. In case you want to do it all tho, by all means, it would be nice to have all these models in one style ofc.

that's so cool that you guys like them!!!! I'm super new at this btw but I tried to keep them to the absolute minimum polygons so the loading time is decreased. I'm not very competent to say if I did a good job at that.

I'm figuring out a better way to export these since inside the software they look much more precise, sharp. When converted to OBJ they lose a lot of sharpness and edges.

I'll figure it out for sure eventually :p

Will keep posting different ones I make. Would love to make the world of Daggerfall a bit more depthy :p

I actually prefer low-poly, and not just because of improved performance.

If I'm playing a game like a flight simulator, I expect things to be detailed and realistic.

For games like Daggerfall I prefer lower detail, which gives me the opportunity to use my own imagination.

It's also easier to add more content if detail is kept low. Speaking of which, feel free to go off on your own and create new stuff, you aren't limited to existing models.

Agreed -- low-poly is good! Personally, I'd love to see these come with pixelated textures as well, at least as an option.

Subtle textures of that sort would be great but my software disallows texturing :(

I'll try something tho

Yeay it worked out, figured out how to export them with no glitches.

Here is the fourth round I did today. All plants and dead nature, made them as optimized as I can. Some barely have volume but work great :p
