Talk about the mods you'd like to see in Daggerfall Unity. Give mod creators some ideas!

Pacified enemies being able to attack quest targets

Hey!
Is there any way to make this possible? Being a linguist is such a cool way to play but its kind of a letdown when its useless against quest targets, i.e. when it really matters.

I had a similar problem with summoned minions in The Penwick Papers mod, so I added code to disable the 'IsAttackableByAI' flag if the minions got close enough...

The Language Skills Overhaul mod breaks all the rules about infighting, so if you use that to recruit enemies, they should be able to kill even quest targets :) (I haven't done it myself, but I've seen it reported)

Thanks Jay! I tried that mod but actually feel like it becomes too easy. Maybe if "normally pacified" enemies gets the ability to attack quest targets I could use it only for that.

I updated Quest Pack 1 a while ago to allow infighting, so I know those will work with pacified monsters; the infighting is enabled once you hit the enemy once. That's kind of a tall order for the Mad Linguist, I understand :lol: I could actually cause infighting if you click on the monster as well, now that I think about it. No guarantees, but I know that can be done.

Normal vanilla quests don't have infighting enabled. Someone could theoretically add that into them, though. I don't like to commit myself to things on an unsure timetable, but I'll keep this in mind.

LOL just kidding, I added a new version of QP1 that enables infighting dungeon quest targets now, too. You only have to click on them. Injuring them will also make it happen.

I could do something similar for vanilla quests, but I don't have time for it right now. We'll see if I manage to do it.

Wow amazing thats very cool of you to edit that, thanks a lot. It will greatly improve the game for this playstyle, its kind of anticlimactic when your strategy wont work when it actually matters. The quest pack is so big now that I feel like a big portion of the quests Im doing is from it.. And they're really good as well, more varied than the vanilla ones. Great work as usual. Really looking forward to trying this out.

"Mad Linguist" edition: previously, quest enemies in dungeons would have infighting enabled if you managed to hit them once. Now, such enemies will have infighting enabled if you manage to click on them -- or you can injure them like before. Please report any cases where this doesn't work. All QP1 quests *should* be completable by a Mad Linguist now.
