Suggested Mod List?

Post by C0rg1 »

What Mods do you consider a must-have to improve game immersion.
I'm trying to avoid visual and audio mods but some such as "dynamic combat music" really make the grade.

An example would be a mod such as "Useable starting equipment" which ensures you can use the equipment you are given at the beginning. Instead of starting with armor your class forbids, etc.

Just curious what you guys have on your mod list. Corgi-out!

Ok, this was a lot harder than I thought! I use lots of mods and when I created a list of the most important non-audio/visual I had a list of 25. I have reduced it down to the 14 mods that are the most essential for me. So in no particular order:

Climate and Calories
Realistic Wagon
Roleplay and Realism + Items
Distant Terrain (I know it’s really buggy but I love the views in the wilderness)
Repair Items
Quest Pack 1
Temples Cure Poison
Viewable Skills Progress
SIGIL
Unlevelled Loot
Basic Roads
Travel Options
Basic Magic Regen
Readied Spellcasting Hands

My Current List.
I provided everything just in case someone notices some blatant conflicting or redundant mods. One thing I've obviously noticed is how many mods affect rain and snow and wonder which are the best for lower resolutions.

(updated on 3/5 with load order accurate and non dfmods at bottom)

3D Enemies
Actions
Animator
Aquatic Sprites
Archaeologist
Basic Roads
Better Ambience
Birds in Daggerfall
RoleplayRealism (no variant npc's. I dislike the old chunky npcs it uses)
TravelOptions
RoleplayRealism Items
Daggerfalle expanded Textures
Distant Terrain (Never worked untill i put dynamic skies after and unchecked terrain & fade)
Dynamic Skies
convenient Clock
DREAM - Commoners
DREAM - Handheld
DREAM - Hud & Menu
DREAM - Mobs
DREAM - Npc's
DREAM - Paperdoll

I've often wondered about SIGIL, Unleveled mobs & Quests, Vanilla Enhanced seems more compatible with many things but Dream seems to have beat them too it.

I enjoy SIGIL and Warm Ashes, they make the wilderness more interesting and have enough quests to make them nt too repetative. I also enjoy world of Daggerfall, I like the bandit camps you can stumble accross.
I use Vanilla enhanced (my laptop is far too old to run DREAM, it's good and conpatible with most mods)

One mod I would recommed you try is Airships! if you use it with distant terrain it is amazing to fly across the Iliac Bay and it really shows you how big the world is!

further 'you can pet the cat' is a small and fun mod.

Finding my Religion (it really slows things down when in temples)
If you are using mods that affect performance, such as Dream and Handpainted models, you will indeed get a FPS hit inside temples. Same thing if you have Transparent Windows.

So the culprit for a FPS hit is not Finding My Religion, but a combination of performance-hit mods. :)

I noticed Saphoo20 that you had realistic wagon but not lousy lycanthropy. Also are the 'shield' and 'kick' modules for combat defunct? What about unleveled monsters?
What sound sets do you use. I use the orchestra overhaul though I would love to see more "Jeremy Soul" ish remakes of Daggerfalls soundtrack. There are a few on youtube but its not the whole soundset.
I tried the special effects remake but many of the effects are overly loud compared to music and other sounds. Good samples, but loud even when turned down. Sounded like a raging bonfire inside a tavern.
