This light-source does not emit light

Post by King of Worms »

Its 210_8-0

I always forgot to report this - Im not sure if it happens only in this dungeon, or in general, but this light does not emit light. It has emission enabled tho, so u can see it in the darkness, but everything around it is dark...

In dungeons, light sprites don't cause generation of a light source as they do in buildings and exteriors. Dungeon lights are instead part of RDB block data. This way block designers could group a single light source in between multiple light sprites.

For example, the groups of three tall skull torches near throne lift in PH and the two torches behind each statue on the opposite side, have only a single light source at each point to represent multiple lights. The sprites aren't where the light source is created, the lights are enumerated in a separate pass from elsewhere.

In a case like this, someone forgot to add a light source to block data near this sprite back in the 90s, and that light source is missing from DFU today because it reads the same block layout data.

Oh that makes the perfect 90s sense :) thanks for explanation, at least its sorted and I can forget it LOL

So this is up for ppl who will work on dungeons eventually, or maybe a 3d replacer of the light with actual light source or something like that.
