Why does my sprites turn out really weird when upscaling?

Why does my sprites turn out really weird when upscaling?

So i've been on a project to upscale sprites from the Diverse Weapons mod, while some turn out excellent, other become twisted or out of place like the images below. Does anyone know why and or if there is a way to fix this?
